Do some DoTs not appear in the log yet or is there a filter toggle I'm missing? The DoT that Skull Sunder doesn't appear in my log, but I can see that it's doing damage by watching the enemies health bar.

how do i change jobs/classes?
Where is the NPC that sells class weapons? is everything better than starting equips crafted?
Having an issue with levequests, I can't get anymore new ones? It keeps saying "You don't have any levequests with XXXXXXXXXX"
I'm going to agree with some of the other sentiments I've read here that unless they expand the beta content available, it's almost pointless to continue unless you love grinding. I'm Physical 14 Conjurer 11 and man Conjurer is weak because of the MP restrictions, although it does get significantly better after level 10 when you're allowed to regain MP by damaging the enemy with a TP move.
I can't find -anyone- to do level 20 quests with me though now that they've become available. I will teleport to the crystal and I'm the only person there every single time. It's frustrating and I don't know what to do because the seek party system blows. I guess I can either try one of the crafting classes or just wait until there's more content released for beta, but I honestly don't think the latter will happen.
^ I'm grinding strictly because I want to see all of the lancer abilities, and because I want to have an absolute superior edge when retail starts.
Have you tried soloing them? I've done all four or five lv.20 leves solo with a level 10-12 pugilist. Some are pretty easy while the others took a bit of effort, but were doable with a strategy what wasn't just straight up bashing things to death.
I haven't played a Conjurer, but it's possible you may be able to come up with something.
You can always just ask people at the camp. I've joined quite a few guild leve parties just for the bit of money, some XP, and to actually party with people.
Thats what I'm doing.. it makes for a superior... "whatever your playing" because you can buff damage/self buff/self heal to where you just don't even get touched by mobs anymore... even if its 3-4 yellow conned mobs.
Lancer will probably be the strongest considering speed surge, and combined with...
conj stoneskin to absorb damage, conj shock spikes to stun, ferocity + sneak attack (forgot name atm pug ability) to poke stuff for 170-200, conc blow to reduce accuracy on mobs, therm regen spell, therm dia spell (reduce target defense) archer accuracy buff, pug feather foot to enhance dodge, glad buff rampart to boost defense
can really make a class a bit of everything and very OP. Mana isn't too much an issue considering my like 15 pug has over 200 mana.
Speaking of mana.. lvling a conj/therm later ingame with a high physical level is kind of nice.. you start at Lv 1 with like 150MP, and by lv 4 have at or over 200MP. Makes lvling alot easier since you can just spam abilities constantly.
The massive ability-swapping of this game reminds me of some crazy hybrid form of FF5, where you can lift individual parts of each class to suit your needs. I'd also say Tactics, but Tactics varied in that it had actual counter and movement abilities that didn't exist in any other FF. FFV is almost a direct mirror of FFXIV, outside of the fact that you can take each individual spell in this game, as opposed to an entire school.
Gulk, you say you like to slap spells on your toon: what do you do when you find a nice grinding spot and want to spend 2 hours there and you run out of MP? Do you just backtrack, or do you have a skill/spell that restores MP?
Also I'm not sure honestly if I like the fact that you can draw so many good spells and abilities from so many different jobs and combine them into 1 "mega" job... I did kind of like how in XI people had specific roles. As others have alluded to it feels as though I'll have to level a ton of shit just to be able to play 1 job effectively, which isn't ideal for the casual players that I thought they were trying to cater towards...
Been doing some mining to hopefully find some zinc ore. Anyone have any luck with that? I've been doing grade 2 for a while now and nothing but copper or yellow copper. I thought maybe it could be found in grade 3(which is stupid since you need a brass nugget to repair the lv 11 spear?), but I can't find any grade 3 spots.
Edit: Found a grade 3 logging spot very north of the bloodshore camp, but there's no mining spots to be found anywhere. This leads me to think "WTFFFFFFFF"
I have a small request that maybe a tester could pass on if you find it agreeable.
In FFXI, while casting DoT spells were helpful, their contribution to the party was not readily apparent. They would do damage, but, much of the time, nobody even knew you cast any until you needed to sleep the enemy and, more often than not, that did not occur. If the spell landed the "killing blow", the caster wouldn't get recognition for that either, just a generic message that the enemy "falls to the ground", not even that it was defeated and less so by whom.
I would like to see in FFXIV that the damage of the spells appear in the log either after they have worn off or the enemy dies, whichever comes first. So instead of simply saying "Player's Poison effect wears off of the Enemy" it would say something to the effect of "Player's Poison effect wears off after dealing 150 damage to Enemy" or "Player deals 150 Poison damage to Enemy" or something similar. Additionally, upon death the message should read the same as if the killing blow were anything else (melee attack or nuke) and attribute the kill to the player that had the greatest magnitude of DoT at the instant of the enemy's death. If spells are active at the point of death they should be all listed to show their partial damages dealt just above the 'enemy defeated' line.
I realize this probably isn't important to most people, that SE has better things to do, etc; but this is a pet-peeve I've had for quite a while and I don't think that it'll take too much effort to revamp while taking nothing away from the players, only adding.
Oh btw... It seems like guildleves while still being on long cooldown, reset after maintenance. I did leves before the server went down then when I woke up this morning. Good stuff.
