There is one thing I don't understand.
Since there is clearly an AH in the city, so SE is planning to implement it at some point
Why did they not go with that first and Marketplace later? Now they seem to be doing the opposite.
Is it because of the Retainers linked to the system that hold our stuff, which can't wait for later because we'd run out of space? Do they want more feedback about Marketplace before the game goes live while they don't need feedback about AH? (< I think that's the main reason actually)
However until it is implemented it's going to be an inconvenience for us, which is too bad. Hopefully there will be a search function for the Marketplace so we can at least create a proper economy while waiting for the AH function.
I wonder if it will be overlooked in endgame in favour of a gladiator-based def tank, or if they'll be able to balance things well enough that it'll be an equally popular solution. I really hope for the latter.
The amount of room they're giving us this time around would suggest that even if one is slightly superior in a tanking role, you can offset it with a little work put in to get skills from other jobs to equalize it somehow. Here's hoping anyway.
But then I wonder, what would Marketplace offer that AH can't.
Retainers that work like your Moogle is cool, but if there is a tax in the marketplace I don't see why you would use that over the AH once it is implemented.
Well the retainer can also buy items for you, don't forget. That's a big plus for items that are harder to come by on the auction house. The auction house might also be limited in what it can sell or in the number of items that can be put up at once. Don't forget they might even make it a 'real' auction house versus the kind we're familiar with, with real auctions being done instead of what we are currently used to.
Also, they function as walking moogles. Letting them bazaar in a central place only makes sense to keep clutter out of cities.
Well, we won't get anywhere with a) the PUG 'supporter' simply innocently passing on information he heard and b) me only knowing both through 10. I'd just be surprised. Both jobs seem to deal with equivalent enemies about the same, but PUGs seem to overpower their opponent where GLADs can last longer. If both fights have to go 90 seconds or so, I'd be much more confident in the GLAD, but like I said, no matter the starkness in my experience (and it's not close), my experience is limited. And it's beta. And we're all in extreme low levels.
I've taken each DoW except for Archer to 10 now, and they all seem to fare as well as the other, but they have different ways of doing it. Simply put, PUG, MAR, and LAN just beat the shit out of the mob while GLAD seems to win a war of attrition with them. But they accomplish the same thing, which makes me wonder about PUG being better at tanking, too.
Don't mind me, I've been drinking and I'm wordy.
hmmm..probs been asked many times already..But I only read about every 2nd page or so of this thread...
Reckon there will be an open beta? (or alternatively one of you disillusioned people could give me your account?lol)
Also..How does lancer stack up as a class? I hope atm its not gonna be like DRG was for ages like in ffxi.
Can you move around with your shield up? You can dodge a lot of TP moves on Pug by moving to a mobs back while they charge it, and even get in a nice rear attack rq.
