FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread V: No one told me beta would have problems in it

Wow, I unlocked a few Faction leves. It seems that you get them when your faction credit is over 100. It seems like a few of them have a special mob that you fight such as "Xha Viqqoh Viqqoh the Nibbler." Suggested rank is 20 for bloodshore faction leves and 30 for cassieopia leves. Cant attempt them today, because Ive already done 8, but i will in a few days.

All this talk about the stamina bar isn't taking into account battle regimes imo.

The way it's setup now seems to favor spamming your bar to build tp or buff yourself and the like, then while your group is setting up the battle regime your stam bar is refilling. Once it's executed, the bar is already 50%+ and ready to go for some more spammage and reuse of regime.

I was duoing with a friend doing just that, spamming like hell, then when we were out of stamina we'd link a regime real quick and by the time we were done our bar was over 50%, ready to go again. Worked out great.

I dont think WS stamina cost is that bad.. because hell, by the time it finishes going off you have alrdy gained about 3/4th the costs back. Animations need to be faster. I can see Stam vs TP drain being more understanding in a PT setting or for NM/HNM style encounters since they dont want u just spamming em w/having stam for everything else.

I agree, how high are people right now level wise having stamina issues? Do you still have issues while grouping? I know certain classes have TP drains to buff the party. Is it that horrible of an issue that basically prevents you from soloing or is it more something put in so people don't choose to ONLY level solo and disregard grouping for anything. I could see it being the latter as SE seems to really like to make people want to group up.

although usually in a group when tried battle regime it would just give an error of some sort and do nothing (even with 5 random people/jobs)

asking people if they have stamina issues is like asking them if they could use more haste, IE everybody wants more. Is it really an issue? i think not, its just that in the beginning you feel like superman, then you feel weak after.

yeah but some people won't, especially as mob HP/defense scales to really high levels and your hitting the same mob for 2-3min

I have no clue how anyone can justify the stamina cost of the TP skills with reactionary abilities like Phalanx being the exception. Lag issues and input delays aside there is a pretty fundamental flaw when you have pure damage TP skills that are doing 130~140 damage for twice as much stamina as a normal hit that's doing 80~90 damage. I don't care if they buff the damage of tp skills or greatly cut/remove their stamina cost so long as they pick one and do it so I'm not sticking to light slash/stab for an entire fight to get an enemy down as efficiently as possible.

That's a pretty bad comparison considering that rogue gets auto-attacks for free and only uses energy for special attacks. Combat in XIV would be completely different if stamina was only used on special abilities.

I think buff abilities in general cost too much stamina. If you want to stack Blindside, Ferocity, Raging Strikes and Bloodbath it takes an entire stamina bar and then you have to wait quite awhile to regen enough to use a weapon skill. It also takes forever to actually activate all of that with lag after input and animations.

It gets to be yawn inducing.

I ran into Cass Hollow to find something that aggroed and it fucking aborted the Leve. God Dammit! Right after it aborted the leve I could put away my weapon too.

oh i def think that ws stam should be tweakked to either cost less or do more dmg especially low ones, higher ones start to be a lil bit more worth it. and some buffs are killed by thier cost, i think that should be tweaked too
but the overall stamina gage mechanic is fine i think, and you got to rem there will prolly be skills that allow you to mess with it as far as haste, maybe quick like skills, no stamina cost for 10 sec etc, this could just be teh beginning

Has anyone gotten Battle Regiments to actually do anything productive? Seems a bit weird... they don't seem to do much really.

Plus, does increasing INT actually affect the damage of Luminous Spire since it's magic damage or is it still STR? Piety for the ACC or is it still DEX? Hm... was wondering the same thing for Radiance on Conjurer actually.

We got a small group of 5 together and did a couple 2 star Cassiopeia Hollow leve's last night. They weren't "that" bad, but they were more than capable of killing us in 1 shot. At one point the crabs we were killing both did their Bubble Spout "spit water in your face move, and basically 1 shot me and our thaumaturge, then went on to kill the other 3 people in the group like they were nothing. We managed them fairly fine and we saw a number of people doing the Aetheryte cheat trying to do them. We were only 15-18 trying these though, so at 20 and 1 star, they would be a challenge but doable.

If you are 20+ depending on your class you could solo them np if you pull everything to the aytherite.
