So is anyone else level 25+ physical now only getting 304 exp per kill on every job vs any mob?
I did the Cedarwood ones fine, but lost the first Cassiopiea one I tried. It was Crabs in a Barrel. I took down three, but when one ran back to summon two water spirits I couldn't kite them back. They were doing ~250 damage a round from range and I couldn't get far enough away. I have one more non-gear one that I'll try.
I really wish you didn't need to stop to put your weapon away or take it out. I'm pretty sure cavemen could put their sharpened rock into their pouch while moving.
That's one thing that I really hated about Aion. You had to stop to do any animated attacks. I thought it was a regression from other games. It sucks that the same thing occurs in FFXIV.
actually drawing a weapon while running isnt too common, probably not worth making a mistake doing it. ie falling on your sword or getting it caught in scabbard etc
For that one it took some practice to get it down right to solo it. What you need to do is make sure the one that is going to runaway is low on health before it does. You'll need to kill it in 1-2 shots when the water spirits pop and then kite > die > kite till back to the aytharite. The good thing is mobs stay where they killed you so it doesn't take more then 1-2 deaths. If you have a ranged attack it helps a lot too.
Fuck all y'all, my phalanx does like 1.5 normal dmg for the same/less TP cost of a light slash and Spinstroke does like 150 compared to my 60 dmg hits, for about twice(?) the stamina. idk I've had no issue with the battle system leveling gladiator or the mages-- only complaint is Guard eating so much stamina but it's an offhand ability and well worth the cost so...
Ok, tried 'Orbs for the Ossuary.' It's three groups of three earth spirits. I don't know how it's possible to kite them back to the crystal. People really solo this shit at 20?
Just did:
Wanted: Xha Viqqoh Viqqoh the Nibbler
Reward: 3k Gil + Bronze Scutum (Big ass shield)
Plague Rat x13
Xha Viqqoh the nibbler x1
40 minutes.
Starts at Skull Valley, you run down south and talk to an NPC. She tells you some backstory, then you travel to the east and kill the rats. The NM is in the mini tower south east of skull valley, and looks pretty cool, a Miquote.
Got a chest with 2948 gil at the end from the NM.
EDIT: The Shield Reward was a Bronze Scutum, level 28, its a large rectangular shield. (Def: 66, Blocking 99, Wield Rate 10)
All the helpers got 963 gil for being there from the NPC when we went back to hand it in.
My group has done numerous testing on the BR system. Right now it is extremely clunky due to it not being refined for the new fast paced battle system. So far we have come up with 3 types of Regimens:
Ruin, Constraint, Despair.
Ruin is your basic Light/Heavy combination's such as (GLA) Light Stab → (ARC) Light Shot. This produces a Regimen of Ruin and gives an ATK down debuff on the mob. As long as the Regimen connects and both attacks land the debuff is 100% and seems to last the entire battle.
Constraint is a Light/Weaponskill combination such as (ARC) Light Shot → (LNC) Leg Sweep. This produces a Regimen of Constraint and gives a TP Inhibit debuff on the mob. Same rules above apply.
Despair is a Weaponskill/Magic combination such as (MAR) Light Swing → Fire, Water, Thunder, Blizzard, Aero, Stone. This produces a Regimen of Despair and gives (what we speculate to be) a Magic ATK down debuff on the mob. Same rules above apply.
Positioning seems to affect whether or not most BR's connect or not or it may just not be refined yet for the new system. We will definitely do more testing later.

Way to be vauge as per usual SE!
Yeah it's the same thing basically. For the elementals use Dots if possible to speed up the kills because of the reduced dmg you can deal to them it's really helpful with getting them down.
I think also there is another elemental leve that has fire elementals. Necro-something: Inferno. You kill some slugs that are like the oboron things to get pages to summon the elementals. Just use the same trick for all of them.
So yeah... That theory about the weapon level and surplus....
It might be working. I recently got a Brass Gladius (Rank 21) and went back to the exp spot. Mobs are now giving me really low surplus skill (like 30-60 as opposed to = to gain) and my skill up seems a bit better. Not where it should be but a step up.
I'll let you guys know how it goes. Grinding to 26 now @15k.
But they do anything? My testing of Bio/Dia was completely inconclusive, the debuff didn't seem to do anything outside of the damage. In fact, the only noticeable debuff I have is Slow.. which completely obviously rapes face (and gets my face raped since its a huge aggro draw).
I don't mean get used to it (waiting on stamina) in a fun sense. I personally believe that it's a given that something about stamina will be tweaked, and I think that auto-attack is a given when hypothesizing about such tweaks. If none occur, we'll see simply the issues that others have mentioned above, but I think we can all agree it's more engaging than ffxi was.
