I know the game doesn't support SLI yet. The odd thing is I had the enemy display before with the same set up but now I don't have it at all.

I can turn them all up to max except for Buffer size which I set to "Window size". When I try to set to "double" I get laggy.

I'm not sure if it's just a beta bug and not to be worried about because many have these issues or if it's just me. Thank you for your replies.
it's an issue with the GUI not resizing to different Resolutions. i have a low end system so have to play on 1280x720. i was able to see targets, chat log, and party members but the radar map and my own hp/mp/tp bar were out of sight. i logged into game on 1600x900 (my max) and moved all movable objects to the center of the screen then relogged to 1280x720 and repositioned them

Heres how partying becomes useful: Skill exp gained is no longer tied to damage dealt + monster level.

If I hit something slightly higher level for 150 (Sup Stygian Swarms)? Bam, 200 exp, easy. If I hit something really hard for like 12 ( LOOKING AT YOU WATER ELEMENTAL)? I get around 8 exp.

I also think this is why Mage classes get shafted. They deal such low damage that they get low returns on spirit dart. I even saw it with cure. Cure for a good amount? 150-200 exp. Cure for 20? Eh, enjoy 35 exp.

Thank you for the reply. I'm already playing at a max resolution of 1920x1080. The enemy HP if I remember correctly is right of center. From what I see it just isn't there at all when it used to be.

edit: someone on that link said the contests are only paused for two days...
If that's true, and these keys are legit, I wonder if this signals that SE will be starting a new beta phase soon? With the servers seeming pretty stable, and no major updates to game balance/content in a while, it looks like an update could be on the way, along with more beta invites.

Probably just wishful thinking on my part, though...

Yes, new beta phase soon where servers are up 24 hours a day, and tons more invites. Should be beginning of august but maaaybe delayed a bit.

I think its a signal that they want more german speaking people to test the german translation of the game. Probably not instant invites though.. When they gave away beta invites at the convention in france I don't think they were.

You'll most likely get bored of whacking some red crab with 4 other people and be back to square one. Parties do need to be fixed but soloing shouldn't be thrown to the wind as a secondary consideration. However I'm bias toward the idea that if defeat a monster that takes 3 people solo I should get the reward of 3 people. Also ready for Open Beta would probably be better than saying retail but I get the point.

    @Madhater

There's no visible que when you dodge or miss an attack yet or parry?
I don't want an over-dependence of parties either. I think parties should be the most effective way to xp, but not by any means the only way. In XI, you got 10x the xp in a party vs. solo. Even if it were only 2x, that would be fine-- I could still solo if I didn't feel like a 2x xp bonus was worth dealing with people.

But parties definitely CAN add a lot of depth to the combat-- it's just not there yet. The direction they take with Battle Regimens will be hugely important here. I do agree with you on the xp system, and one of my biggest complaints with XI was that you weren't rewarded for challenging battles. You'd get 0xp from a difficult BCNM/HNM/etc, and you'd get ridiculous caps on IT+++ mobs. If anything, there should be an xp incentive for players to risk fighting things way tougher than them.

As to the other question, there are visible cues for Evade, but it's pretty easy to miss. A white Evade! will flash quickly on your character, just like Misses and damage, but if you're not looking out for it you'll probably miss it. They do need to do something to make reactionable cues more pronounced.

I wouldn't play this game solo tbh (combat at least). Shit is boring.

Which is why I'll usually stop any MMO at around level 20.

But as soon as I made a group, I had a great time. I just can't get myself into it if I don't party.

solo didn't bother me.. the progression is a alot faster then 5-6 man group... by alot.

2 person group is ideal though and probably the fastest considering a dps+healer can rape stuff with near no down time.

it was like... 120-150 exp a kill with 6... hitting stuff for like 6-12 a punch that took like 30 seconds to kill.

While its 500-600exp duo hitting stuff for 40-60 that took maybe 20-30 sec

solo you can fight slightly weaker mobs for 800-1000 exp with possibly no downtime (something like pug with 2nd wind especially, or sub 2nd wind and be gladiator or something) taking 15-20sec to kill.

I did a couple 2 person parties, they gave about the same amount of class xp as solo and it meant there was less competition for the mobs.

And sadly i dont even worry about physical xp at this point just because it doesnt seem like the extra stat points matter much.

this bodes well for us loner types, or those who dont have friends that play video games, or those who dont want to spend most of their time trying to find a group to get anywhere.

Grinding for levels familiarizes you with your job/class, and the real gameplay comes in in end game in my opinion. that's where all the orginzation should come in for groups, parties and alliances.

Although, people in a group should receive a reward for being effective as a team. Its just unnecessary to require everyone to play a certain way, solo, or in a group.

I don't think this game is for "loner types" tbh.

I think that'd be a dull experience at best.

Don't think it was planned to be a loner type of game. It's an MMO after all!

I'm bringing up the buggy durability system up like a f#$%ing egg timer on the forums. Please god don't let durability go down that fast. It seems to increase as I rank up.

I also reached Surplus Hand-to-Hand rank level 19. Still never got a clear answer on what that means. I've gotten answers regarding it, but they didn't add up and honestly I don't think anyone really knows what it is.

Some other games are a blast to solo in because they have awesome questing systems and cool stuff to do while you level up. If you are a 75% or more solo player (after an initial familiarizing period) I can't see you enjoying FFXIV. The mob grind is excruciatingly boring once you get to the teens and guildleves aren't really enjoyable for their lore.

I'm a min/maxer and rusher to max levels in MMOs but I might just take this one slow and party up while exping to maintain my sanity.

I haven't come across a game that is a 'blast to solo' yet, at least an MMO. Some games I get bored later, some earlier, but it is never exciting.

The MMO gameplay just can't compare to single player games, and I guess my standards are too high in that regard.

I'm not sure why you're questioning your standards. As far as I'm concerned, MMO's are for group play, and offline games are for single player modes. Sure there should be an option to solo a bit of EXP, but what'd be the point of grouping if you could solo all the content.

Personally, I'd rather /wrist than grind solo, I just can't stand it.
