It has been said, a few times =) Racial stats are non existent at this point and are going to be negligible at best on launch.
In a Famitsu article last year, Tanaka and Komoto said that there might be additional selections that can be made during the character creation process that will influence one's starting stats - and they sort of hinted that clans might effect stat spreads to this end. Not sure whether they'll follow up on that for launch, though, as there's no indication of any such a system in beta thus far.
Yeah I think there should be some difference. It would be interesting to see racial differences for the hand and land disciples especially. At the same time it could be exceedingly aggravating to choose a race that is not good at a given craft that you'd like to pursue.
It could just as easily - or it could be a combination of both, in theory. It's sort of hard interpreting these Japanese articles since I can't actually read them first hand, and must rely on the translation of others. Because of mistranslation, there was even a rumour floating around for a while that gender would effect your stat spread (lolol).
The translation I'm going by is this one --> http://www.eorzeapedia.com/2009/08/0...info-included/
Quick question. Has anyone else had their chat log disappear? I have no idea how to get it to come back up with out a reinstall. Google was no help unfortunately.
I've relogged in many times (it happened about a week ago). At this point it's unplayable basically as I can't talk to any npcs or anything.
If the emote menu is still mapped to the gamepad by retail I will literally facepalm my head off. I would much rather have a button that actually does something useful. To me, having extra buttons is usually a sign that your game is lacking in depth-- that you're limited in what you can actually do in the game, and in how responsive you have to be as a player to be at your best. A giant no-no.
Not that I'll miss PvP at all (duels to dick around with would be nice), but I never saw it as a serious obstacle to have separate balances for PvP and PvE. Keeping them tied together while trying to balance for two totally different contexts is helladumb.
I actually don't really like the whole Yes/No thing. I think there was actually one in the Legends Adrift beta quest, in fact. I said "no," and the NPC definitely said something different based on what I said (nothing plot-changing, of course). Realistic and engaging, sure?... but it really just made me wonder what he would have said if I said, "Yes."
I hate racial traits with a passion. Dumb stuff like Mithra being able to eat raw fish was fine, but actual stat differences just make the min/maxers pick their race based on stats and then get started on their quest for elitism before the game even begins. If I never see a "WICH RACE IS BETR" thread for the rest of my life, fuck.
Or since we're getting so much customization, differences to start with but having the same caps is fine with me, at least in theory. Unfortunately, that only works out if we know the caps will be the same from the beginning.
I always assumed that eventually racial bonuses (if they could be called as such) would pertain to the tribe you chose. A melee tribe and a magic tribe, etc.
Based on the flavor text, that would certainly make the most sense.
I agree, it seems they races are split into a more magic-based camp, and a more melee-based clan, if the flavour-text is anything to go on.
This is why the lack of female highlander hyurs irks me.
Well in most eastern fantasies you don't typically have amazonian/mountain women..maybe in hentai but the most I've seen were Valkyries which are more closer to goddesses than anything.
Otherwise it seems pretty typical that it would be male only-head-into-city-snatch-up-unsuspecting-ditzy-blonde-to-use-for-mating-purposes type of clan.
Yeah, loud Galkas are annoying. Galkas should always be serious and quiet. I've been stuck on a hume for years on FFXI wanting to be a Galka, now is my chance.
I never wanted to be a Galka in XI because of the stubby little legs and the stupid tail. This new one (Roegalka... whatever it is) has better proportions.
