Since we're speculating, I wonder if we'll see three completely different opening cutscenes depending on starting city, or if we'll all get off the boat in LL and Hob will either escort us to Mizzenmast Inn, or send us off to Gridania or Ul'Dah.
I'd like to see different cutscenes, but I think the premise is that we're all arriving in Eorzea from *somewhere* and the boat is the only way there.
Opinions?
Edit: Are we supposed to be arriving from Vana'diel?
I would love different cutscenes and honestly i expect that there will be. Story wise it would be a better fit because i doubt the citizens and officials of Gridania and Ul'dah will know/care much about a mythical sea beast (Leviathan?). Probably the same thing with random small creatures attacking a carriage in the forests of Gridania and then be scared off by Titan, and something similar for Ul'dah with a desert caravan and Ifrit maybe.
That depends, it IS a Final Fantasy game after all. The lore around any mythical beast goes around the entire world unless they're extremely secluded from the rest of the world/different world all together e.g FFV's Unknown Lands.
It won't be the same CS but I won't be surprised if there's mission lines involving Levia. Titan and Ifrit would be the respective beasts of those areas but all stories in FF games tend to tie together at some point![]()
Bottleneck or not, it would have nothing to do with how much currency everyone has in their possession. People's complaints are stemming from a desire to not see millions of gil on their character. They want to "feel" rich if they ever manage to save up a mil.
Just tell it like it is, then. Don't hide behind this blanket of "I don't want to see gil devalued, so we shouldn't be able to make a lot from quests!" Large amounts of gil and devalued gil don't go hand-in-hand. So long as SE balances how much gil goes off of the servers through NPC transactions and balances the amount of gil people spend on weapons/armor/consumables/materials from NPCs with the amount that people bring in from grinding/quests/missions, there's no problem with how much e-currency you currently have in your menu.
Its just a pet peeve of mine. Asshole crafting exploiters and scalpers bottlenecking and ruining the economy have nothing to do with how much loot we can pull off of a dead mob. I heard that shit all through the Christmas of 05 in FFXI, when it was all about idiots buying gil and paying absorbant prices for SHes than anything else.
@Cichy: Will we be jumping on chairs during the airship or train from Vanadiel cutscene?
Airship to Ul'dah with Titan at the landing zone dancing like this...
Necronomicon text....
Spoiler: show
God I miss that dance. Shit was epic.
@ Lucavi
If its a train sequence we will be hiding in a baggage rack with a cloak of invisibility on while Titan attacks the train, SE gonna make it a Harry Potter rip off.
It's the train from chocobo woods. That area in .dats that was never used.
Btw has anyone tried the "Seek Repair" option in the beta, I clicked it and it put my brass dagger in my bazaar for the amount I offered.
What I was wondering is how that works? You gotta trade the item to the crafter or can they just fix it and it never leaves your inventory?
When you seek repairs on an item you make an offer (its smart to make the offer the item needed to repair. Or maybe enough gil to buy new one).
Person comes around and attempts to repair you item:
- If they fix it. The item you offered gets thrown into their inventory and your item gets removed from your bazaar and back into inventory.
- If they fail. They lose their repair mats and your item stays in bazaar.
I ran around a did a bunch of repairs in the Market Wards. :X
