This movie could've been saved if that scene showed Carla Gugino's tits.

so 4 of the 17 extra minutes is just a lame song and dance routine?
Eh, I didn't think she looked like anything special. The blonde chick is smoking hot and I would do horrible things to her,
and as for her in real life, definitely not.
Spoiler: show
I saw this day it came out and thought the same thing. And then thought, I wonder when this comes out on DVD, will they have a version or deleted scenes of her dancing?
As for opinion of the movie, it was highly disappointing. I honestly don't even wanna go into it.
And seriously, the "dreamworld" in this movie is not a dreamworld, it's a projection of the girls' thoughts.
fuck the critics, movie was badass. The whole fantasy-within-a-fantasy was like inception, but with hot chicks. BBRRRRRRRMMM. BRRRRRRMMMMMMMM.
The whole point of these sequences was to let you imagine how awesome her dance was. Asking to see the actual dance is asking for a deception.
As for being a dream world or a projection. The nurse did tell them they could imagine what they want after the music start playing. Because the music was played twice, she imagined two layers of dream. You can still make an argument for the projection with all the anachronism and nonsense, but it was probably supposed to be a little of both.

I don't understand all the hate for this movie. The approach was puerile, and the action was gratuitous, but you had to expect that from the trailers. Did you honestly thought undead nazi and steam-punk giant samurai were going to be introducing in a convincing way?The plot itself was fine for what it was, even if Inception and Shutter island did a better jobs with this kind of stuff.
Movie of the year? Hell no, but I would rewatch it 10 times before transformer 1 or 2.
The action was repetitive and unoriginal. After the Samurai scene I was bored of the action sequences.
The double layers of reality was a good concept, but poorly presented.
It's great visualization with poor story telling and lazy choreography.
The story and characters were shit, but everyone knew it would be. No one expected a masterpiece from the story or setting, but the way the movie was presented was just wrong. It didn't work at all. This movie did nothing to make me feel the tension. The movie kept going through the motions and without a suitable conclusion, it just ended. The movie needed a finale that said "this is it, this time it's for real and the stakes are higher."
Nothing came though. Visually it was great, the fighting was decent, sometimes inspired but otherwise tepid.
I wouldnt say repetitive, but the action did lack a little something. The train sequence for one was particularly boring.
I think it was a mistake to kill all of them so quickly (didnt really give you enough time to fear for the other), but for me, this movie was more about the depressing setting than the tension. A depressing setting with over the top sugar-coating....or something.
I'm not sure what kind of conclusion you wanted though. See the step dad suffer? Get an explanation for the bus driver?
Movie looked stunning...better than a lot of shit I've watched lately.
It's not just that they didn't live long enough, but the content of the "action sequences" is a direct disconnect to the real tension, which should be felt in reality (or the closest thing to it). I never once felt the tension from the dreamxdream sequences, every tense moment happened outside of those. And while I can sit through cool looking action sequences with little to no story or emotional investment (see: Dead Fantasy), the action itself was nothing to really write home about.
And I kinda hoped that the main chick (not the actual main chick, the other one that the movie focused on for the... whole... movie) would distract the men near the gate by dancing again, which would trigger the final battle or something. Some shit would happen (she would lose and get dragged away to get lobotomised, the other main chick would escape due to her sacrifice etc) and blah blah blah I'm not a writer, but something with consequences would have been nice. Hell, even with a similar tone to all the other action scenes, there needed to be a better final battle than that stupid train sequence which was boring.
I suppose the conclusion itself was wrong to say, moments leading up to the conclusion more like.
Hell a montage of reality at the end would have been nice too.
Anytime someone says that Emily Browning isn't hot and uses that picture as justification, I have to laugh.
SHE'S NOT HOT BECAUSE SHE DYED HER HAIR AND CUT IT.
Ok so picked this up today. First off, fuck Warner Bros. for making the Extended Cut BluRay only. I mean I can play it on my PS3, but prefer to buy DVDs really (not totally sure BluRay is here to stay).
But also watching the beginning there is some got narration of "everyone has a guardian angel" that I didn't pick up the first time through.
What I'm saying is that you never felt they were in danger in the 3rd layer for most the movie. If one had died earlier, I'm pretty sure it would have set a different mood.
And I agree, the movie did need a final battle for the final dance. I don't know why they offscreened that one.
i love zack snyder and i love all these broads and the nazi steam punk zombies were awesome but after that everything just felt very recycled and terrible.
i really thought i would like this because i enjoy turning my brain off and just watching stupid action like crank or shoot em up but that didnt happen with this![]()
When you start rooting for the bad guy you know you're doing it wrong.
