PS2 issues (lolps2)

Couple issues are happening when Im playing my ps2:

1. The sound on my speakers sounds like shit. Lots of crackling and distortion. I have a samsung 5.1 surround sound setup, and Im pretty sure it shouldnt sound like that when Im playing my games.

2. The colour in my game sometimes fades, almost to a point where it looks black and white instead of being in colour. I have a samsung lcd tv too, if that makes a difference.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I haven't and I still use my PS2 somewhat regularly. If possible have you tested this on other TVs? Do you by chance have another pair of audio/video cables? You haven't missed the settings on either TV/PS2. You wouldn't by chance happen to have recently purchased some huge illegal magnet and placed it next to the TV? >_>

It did the same thing on my old tv with my old surround sound system. That was also with an older ps2. I just bought a slim one a few weeks ago, but its the same shit all over again.

Sounds like maybe it's your AV cables... try a different pair?

Yep, thats exactly what it was, thanks. One last question though, since my tv only has enough inputs for one game system, is there any way I could have my ps2 and my wii hooked up at the same time so I dont have to constantly change the wires whenever I switch systems?

If you have an LCD TV, it -should- have the output for one of these...plus it makes Wii games look better.

I got a system switcher from Gamestop, I think for $20. It has component connections so you should still be able to use HD connectors as well as standard ones. Then you just push a button and it switches the output. Pretty nice for that situation.

I have a PS2 issue somewhat also. I was playing Legend of Dragoon which I had bought a long time ago and never played. I am on the 2nd disc and the part where you fight that wingly chick the 2nd time when she turns into the water dragoon. After I beat here and watch the cutscene, it distributes the exp and loot. After that I press X button and screen stays black and nothing loads up. The same thing happened to me before after the cutscene when Lavitz dies, but it worked after I cleaned the disc off. All my discs are new and pristine, yet they don't work. Can't get any help from sony since it is so old. Anyone know anything about this type of thing?

It's a problem with the emulator on the PS2 for the PSX. If you would've contacted Sony they'd respond with getting their newest console...

Either find a working emulator that doesn't have problems (I think some of them do) or buy an old PSX for $20?
