You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

OK Bg, help me make my reception playlist

So instead of a DJ, what I'm doing for my reception is using the zune progam. our laptop is going to be hooked up to a sound system. It'll be playing songs randomly but it has an easy access for people to select songs if they want a particular one.

Incase you guys don't know how the zune system works. You pay 14$ a month and can basically download all songs for free. At the end of the month they get wiped except you can keep 10 songs to keep.

(This is why I'm doing this now, so don't think I'm procrastinating lol)

We have more than enough HD space to download like every song on the planet. And I've been d/l things like crazy as I can think of them.

I've gotten the standard things like the YMCA and the Chicken dance n' such, but I figure people might be able to suggest good dance songs in case I miss things.

I can also d/l a whole album at once, so you can list those too instead of just particular songs.

I really want to make a nice choice selection for people (reception is 4 hours).

Keep in mind too this is a wedding reception so we have parents n' grandparents n' such, so anything that's full of swears is to be avoided.

Didn't we have a thread like this a few weeks ago? What kind of music are you and your friends generally interested in? Please don't say "everything" because well that's usually not the case. Also, how old are you? Sorry to sound like an ass, but this will narrow down the year of music as well

Here are some general wedding songs:

    Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Michael Jackson - Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough
Michael Jackson - Rock With You
Earth, Wind and fire - Let's Groove
Kool & The Gang - Get Down On It
UB40 - Red Red Wine (Neil diamond - red red wine (the original) if your parents are REALLY old) <--- old people love this
    Culture Club - Karma Chameleon

the last thread was about the dance you do with each other. This is an overall music for the night XD.

I'm 30 so ya me and my friends tend to like the classics. Micheal Jackson is def on the list. :D

I definitely forgot about red red wine though so thanks!

my wedding is going to be awesome.

I am going to walk down the aisle to "this is why I'm hot."
Then, after we are wed and kissed etc, as we start walking down the aisle, there will be a rickroll instead of the usual post-wed song.

But really, just personalize it with the music that you like and you want to hear; fun songs that make you want to dance with some of your fav love songs. I'm not caring at all about what the guests want to hear or like, fuck em. It's my gd day

We have sort of a funny ending to the wedding, but sadly I can't post it here because people that are going to be there read this forum lmao.

But ya I agree, but I will be the first to admit I am a forgetful person so there are songs I like that I just know I'll forget to put in (like the Red Red Wine example above).

And considering it's basically unlimited, there's no harm in adding more and more and more. XD

Oh I did almost for to ask (><, there's a song I've heard the last few times I've been to a wedding I don't know the name of.

It's one of those songs where the guy tells you what to do (Time Warp style). Only part I can remember is him saying something like "take it back ya'll, now jump" or something.

Every wedding in the south kicks off with ACDC's all night long.

Get out the "kiddie" music early. Chicken dance or whatever other crap you're apparently obliged to play at weddings.

Play the grinding and dance music late after everyone's wasted.

    Karaoke is encouraged.

My wedding reception was a complete disaster after we went through the opening songs. DJ company sent the wrong DJ and other than then opening dance music for first dance/group dance/family dances, he didn't play a damn thing from my list.

Was going to have the entire bridal party do this skit...with the weight of one of my sisters and one of her sisters, it wouldn't have went too well. Would have been good for a few of the bridesmaids though...

Pulling from my memories during my brief stint as an event DJ...

    Cupid Shuffle
    Electric Slide
    Cha Cha Slide

Are always favorites for large groups of white people who can learn a few basic moves and turn to their right.

Beyond that, If we're talking 30-somethings, then anything off of a "Songs of the 80s" album will work, especially if we're using Michael Jackson as a benchmark.

Also, Discjockeys.com has a Top 200 from 2009 of the most requested wedding songs. It's a pretty even mix of standard wedding crap and what was popular about this time last year. Take a look at these:
