if you only smoke at night, then it will last you awhile, just smoke a small amount since you're using it for sleep aid

Agreed, since you haven't smoked in so long, you could probably get away with just a few hits by yourself at night, and make that stuff last for quite awhile.

Cool. I should be getting it this weekend. Gonna buy some papers in the meantime and maybe eventually move back to a glass bowl like in highschool, that is if the shops in seaside nj are still around... it has been a while. I smoked once maybe 6-8 months ago and it was fantastic. Had a few beers at a friends house then he broke out medical stuff, a few puffs on a joint and I just sat back and zoned out in a chair for a good hour. Went home and crashed and what a sleep it was. Bowls/pipes were popular back when I was younger, and I used to be a cig smoker so the extra heat should be fine. My main concern is conservation. I strictly want it to help me go to sleep, so I'd really love it to last.

Should I be investing in some sort of grinder or something, or should I be fine just mashing a little bit up and tossing it in some rolling paper with a tiny home-made filter?

If it's for a sleep aid and you're getting good shit, you should definitely just go with a decent glass bowl.

Grinders aren't really necessary, but... I couldn't live without mine, lol. I mostly smoke schwag, though. (compressed commercial shit)

For good shit I definitely recommend one of the ones with a screen and extra section at the bottom for kief.

You might also want to consider a vaporizer instead of smoking, in which case you definitely want a grinder. Amazon has vapes now, not sure about grinders though lol.

Friend has been pushing me so hard to get a vaporizer, but for this first batch I'm going to start cheap cause I don't know how good this supplier is or how long this connection might last. He's my sisters... boyfriends... friend. It could disappear after the first quarter. If the connection and stuff is good, and/or I can open up more doors for other options, then I'll definitely spend the money on a vape.

Are grinders sold at cigar shops? There is an amazing cigar shop near me that I'm sure also sells straight tobacco for self rolling, so I'm sure they'd have one if cigar shops sell them at all. Also, it opens up the option for blunts. Should I just stick with papers or make small blunts out of cigars, or even use black n milds?

Amazon sells decent vapes for like <$30, btw. They're also good for schwag, just... fucking amazing for good stuff.

As to the blunts question, I'd just stick with papers. Blunts are for smoking with friends or just getting blown out of your mind.

I'd recommend a grinder for sure. For one, it smokes a ton better in a glass pipe compared to say just dropping the nug in. Secondly, adding a little dash of kief on top of greens makes for a good time and a wonderful night of sleep (this is mainly because kief is primarily comprised of trichomes of cannabinoids, which is the part in weed that actually induces sleep). My grinder is a small 4 piece setup, top/grinding teeth/catch with a screen/bottom trap for kief. I picked that up at a local head shop for 35 and I'll never go back to smoking without it.

Also, like others have already stated. Go with a glass bowl for what you're doing, blunts would just be a huge waste since you're not looking to smoke a ton before bed.

So another friend of mine said he can get really really good stuff but he said it'll be like 100-120 for a quarter cause a half is about 200. I know I've been out of the game forever and the people im getting it from were still in elementary school or diapers when I was doing it, but that price seems outrageous since another friend offered me a quarter for like 60-75. Even if it's dirt, that's a big difference in price.

Live off of my MFLB. Its amazing. Totally worth it if you're a) going to be smoking as a regular thing and b) looking to conserve. Expect the highs to be different though, I find that it is much more of a heady high than anything. Quarter lasts me about 2 weeks with MFLB, which is great. Also, its super portable, so you can pack a trench and go do stuff without having to carry around a bunch of shit.

If you're really worried about conservation, buy a one hitter. You don't waste any that way, nothing burning in the bowl/paper between hits, always taking a green hit, and much easier to manage just taking a couple of hits without worrying about half packing the bowl or leaving a half smoked bowl laying around. I've been smoking for like 15 years, my one hitter and dugout box are never very far away.
