I'm pretty much a hardcore passive zerker with one or two shadow skills. I have passives from all three trees, so I think as long as it helps you out. You should be good.

The trees aren't really intrawoven like, say, D2 -- they don't even have prereqs other than level. You could take literally no skills in a given tree except the level 42 (or whatever) skill, max it out, works just fine.

And honestly, shadow-claw-smash-health-steal thingy is probably the only active skill a berserker needs; the real point juggling for them is in stats. They have a strong use for all four stats, with execute considered.

Been playing outlander on elite. I'm pretty sure that on my first go, I picked the strongest build knowing nothing of the game prior to its release on thursday. If anyone's interested in it, lmk...lvl 50 now almost beat act 3.

I'm doing the same. I probably did a terrible job with my skill spread, but glaive spam all day.

glaive spam, using 2 pistols, one with + 10 mana per hit, + a helm with 11 mana per hit, each pistol at .56 seconds, 60% execute, and 20% life taken per hit....godmode ;D

I had to put on a shield, ended up wasting my points in Akimbo because of it, but I can probably switch back when I get some better gear. At 51 right now and just got to act 4. This game is surprisingly long, love it.

Contemplated a shield...but not my style heh. Kind of funny face tanking bosses with this build, because once the pistols get going, that lifedrain heals up really quickly.

Just quit Tera and I am contemplating buying this game for in between periods. Everything I read seems like I would get the money I put in it back in the form of entertainment.

How hard is it to put down? Lol, I want like a game where I can play 1-2 hours and not become obsessed with it too much.

It's addicting. I lost track of time a few times and it's been a while since I've done that. The best part is that it really seems like ANY build will work. Just max the level of whatever skill you like and have a blast.

Currently I'm doing an outlander on normal and it's just glaive spam with a tooon of passives. The bats get pretty strong after a while.

    Yeah, just went to purchase it and found out that my Paypal is a 3 day wait period because I never updated my old card, rarely use Paypal. So now I have to wait until Thursday to actually play it -_-;

Didn't really get into torchlight 1, maybe 'cause I knew I couldn't share the experience with anyone, so I wasn't really paying attention to TL2... downloaded the demo, now my brother and I are hooked. He is playing outlander and I'm engineer. We're only level 15, but we're playing on Elite and it's a ton of fun. Just by looking at engineer's skill tree (not much knowledge with other classes) I could already see three or four different builds I'd like to try. Right now I'm just kind of farting around, but I'm doing a tank build with some construction while my bro shoots everything down. Working on finding a way to increase my damage... either going to stick to -armor on hit weapons (btw do those keep taking armor off until the enemy has 0?) or upping some focus and using a fire wand with a few points into the +fire/electric dmg passive.

Hopefully I can stick to one character and not remake a bunch of times lol... anyone who is still on the fence about buying it, well you can always download the demo, easily can get a few hours out of it... but if you're a fan of the genre at all, you can't pass this one up. It being $20 is a sweet cherry on top

Haha I bought the game and patched it intending to just watch the opening cutscene and go to sleep. Two hours later and I'm finally rolling off to bed; love it, lots of fun.

One of the reviews I read mentioned "limited co-op", does anyone know what they were referring to or can explain how it's limited? They didn't go into detail other than say that. I'm wanting to save this game for when XIV goes down and play it with my wife and a buddy for our weekend LAN parties, but if there's something crappy about the co-op I'll just play by myself

Maybe just the level spread and jumping into any game? I've kept a multiplayer character for just a friend and i when we play, and my solo character.

We'd keep levels together since we'd only be playing at the same time. I thought maybe it was referencing a rubber band screen where everyone had to be in everyone's view at all times (similar to Fable 2) or something like that. Six player limitation isn't bother either. Good to hear, thanks!

There's no rubberbanding like that, two or more players can go wherever. The person I play with will commonly go back to town or wander off after a monster, and while being separated too much does seem to make our XP gains separate, it's rarely a big deal and fairly easy to stick together. I do tend to find things a little too easy with two players; while the monsters themselves become a bit harder, I feel like there need to be more of them to match the challenge two players can handle.

Wait do I have to start a character on Elite to play Elite? or can I do Normal then progress to Elite like Diablo? Also, can I password protect multiplayer games? I want to make a MP character, but I don't want to have randos join every time I want to level up without a friend on.

afaik you can't start on normal, complete, and move to veteran/elite. You do get access to normal/ng+ though where everything just get's tougher and tougher. You are able to password protect mp games, everytime you start the game/start playing you get 3 choices: offline/single player, lan, and internet/mp.
