    Being Human

    http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...on-2-BBC-3.jpg

I dont know if anyone posted about this show yet but I purchased it on iTunes for like 7 bucks the other day. The show is amazing, its funny, and characters are actually interesting.
It revolves around three roommates. One is a vampire, second is a ghost girl that died in the house they rentin, and third is a jewish werewolf.
Apparently Sci-fi has ordered an American version to be made and first 13 episodes supposed to be coming soon. It's probably gonna fail terribly as the guy who plays the vamp roommate is the douchbag that played doomsday on Smallville and was in that Forced Unleashed game.
If you got 7 bucks and like this type of shows its well worth it.

Figured I'd necro this since its only one post instead of starting a new thread.

I just discovered this show yesterday (U.S. version) as a result of my FFXI withdrawl. It's not the best thing ever, nor he worst, but its definitely gonna be added to my weekly rotation of shows just to see where it goes.

Anyone else care enough about this show to warrant this thread?

My research shows that the U.S. version is gonna be almost entirely different. I guess they're intentionally NOT watching the U.K. version so they don't end up just mimicing their U.K. counterparts. Apparently they're doing this cause the U.K. first season was only what, a mere 6 episodes?

I figure I'll do the opposite, watch this season of U.S. THEN watch season 1 U.K. after that, but no more, and repeat that every year until its cancelled or somehow loses my interest I suppose.

They still ripped off alot of the UK version. The UK version doesnt have vampires with super strength and the special effects but it makes up with better actors, cast chemistry, and it's overall just better. I would watch the UK version 1st definitely.

The UK version is a LOT better than the US version.

Theres only like 3-4 episodes left on the US season so I'll watch those before trying out UK. I wouldn't exactly call it ripping off since thats kinda the point of a clone like this. As for the chemistry, I can only assume the UK one is better but this may just become a small rant.

As for the cast, I think the ghost is the only good character and actor. She's basically more real (for a completely not-real entity) than the other two, and not just on an acting standpoint. The thing that bugs me most (and bugs me a LOT) is the lines they give to the werewolf, mainly when he's having his daily emo moment. I mean, yeah he and the vampire are monsters and yeah some of the lines are more or less acceptable, but I think its been like a dozen times that hes completely railed on the ghost character calling HER a monster and telling her to get bent or that she should give up. Really? Really really? The otherwise normal person who just happens to be incorporeal and who actually died and you know can move on to an afterlife and instead of encouraging her to move on you rail her as if shes the same as a murderous wolf and vampire? Right.

And don't get me wrong, those lines aren't the problem alone, its that they DONT FIT THE CHARACTER. I mean I understand his hatred of himself and even would expect him to be mean to people, but I can only believe his behavior toward the ghost if he was violently bitter towards EVERYONE 24/7. Why? Cause I don't believe that someone so cynical and bitter can be that way one minute then a scene later explain to his girlfriend nurse that he spends his free time making patients feel better both on and off duty. So hes empathic toward the sick and dying, but once you're dead MONSTER!! Sorry writers, you lost me.
    [/end rant]

So yeah, I'm gonna guess the UK werewolf isn't that grade of douche? At least not in a totally implausible way so that its POSSIBLE he could have actor chemistry with other characters?

In the UK version there is definitely a friendship between all three of them although they all are very different. Also, it focuses more on the whole "Being Human" aspect, trying to help others.
George (werewolf) is a goofy guy but it works very well in their dynamic, also Annie (ghost) is way cute and bubbly. I love that actress.

Hmm, not sure if I'd like to see the ghost more bubbly, like I said, the US one is the only one that feels pretty convincing in her role. The vampire actor isn't too bad, pretty believable at times actually, but dear god, once again writing is killing that character, though not as bad as the wolf. For a 260+ yr old vampire hes just WAAAYY too stupid on handling vampire exposure. I mean, the lapses of judgment due to bloodlust are perfectly fine, like any addict irrationality is expected. It's just the other shit like basic lying skills or the ability to handle it afterwards that makes me wonder how he didn't get staked 200 years ago (although yeah, they always have the "he sucks at compelling" thing)

I actually think the ghost is the worst character of the 3. For the simple fact that when her emotions get out of whack, no one else matters but HER. I mean, I guess that's "realistic" because of all the self-entitled douchebags these days, but she interrupts the werewolf while he's attempting to ask out the nurse on a date, fully aware that it completely messes with him and he wasn't even the one to send her to see all the other ghosts or had anything to do with it. And a few minutes prior and the night before she was all about trying to get that guy laid.

There are certainly some writing issues. Aiden not watching what the kid was doing in his room is stupid. And his handling of vampire things is naive, really. But some of this can be explained if he truly is weak from not drinking human blood from the tap.

I can handle the werewolf being whiny for the most part. It must freak the fuck out of an OCD geek to completely lose control of everything for a few hours.

Actually, that scene where the ghost just talks at the same time as the girlfriend nurse was the only time she really made me to "WTF?". Even if she was in a huff and were to begin a rant after wisping in, and even if her character would totally interrupt someone when NOT dead, she HAS to realize shes being drowned out by another voice and that no one could possibly understand both convos.

But in the end though, her behavior swing COULD be explainable. Ghosts are indeed self centered and going a little crazy. Even outside this show, its not uncommon for a ghost to become COMPLETELY engulfed in their own self ... its usually the reason they even are a ghost.

Edit: Totally missed Quals post above yours. Yay at the extention. The show hasn't lost me yet, but it hasn't grasped me like the first 3/4 of Heroes Season 1. We'll see if they as a show respond to possible complaints, comments, suggestions, etc (assuming the masses agree with some of our sentiments in this thread.)

So season 2 of the US version of this started last Monday. I'm actually liking the US version. Watched the 1st season not too long ago and it's pretty good.

I'm usually not a fan of UK scripted shows so I ignored this one until today, when I found the US version on Netflix. Pretty good, I didn't know the dweeby fake-killer from the first season of Dexter and rita's ex could play complete opposite roles like that.

    But, the MU &sopa stuff killed the only dl listing site I knew for tv and there are only SD torrents out there, so I might wait another year for season 2 eps in HD on Netflix; ;

    This show is on Hulu.

Even if it weren't, you can use sites like TV Duck and TV Links to find links to places with epsiodes of shows, like novamov, putlocker, and others.

Figured I'd bump this since it's been recently announced that this will be the last season of the BBC Being Human. Also, the American one started and they both pretty good so far.
