Abyssea NM Weaknesses

More on topic, I highly doubt that it checks your equipped weapons and such, and from what I've heard and gathered, weakness is still only a chance to proc anyway, making this very hard to test.

I'm pretty sure this is false...if a mob was weak to a certain spell/ws, it remains its weakness untill death, when a new weakness is chosen (or if its spammed too much and is no longer weak to it).

My friend did tachi koki on darks day to bakka and it completely stunned bakka and made him unable to do anything at all.

Pretty sure what was meant was that you could do Asuran fists four times and not see a !! from it, and then get one from the fifth Asuran. Can't confirm or deny though.

I may have missed it but do we have any idea if the weakness proc has to occur during a certain phase? While fighting the corse nm we got a sidewinder to proc a blue !! and got Serpentes cuffs to drop but as many sidewinders as were spammed never got another again. The sidewinder was the first one of the fight and actually cured him because it was used at the wrong time while he had absorption. This is obviously too little information to draw any conclusions from but my sadistic little mind is preparing me for the worst. Please counter anything you have knowledge with as much of my reading through this thread was scanned and avoiding all the pointless arguments.

So can it only trigger during certain phases, 2hr or actions such as casting or not casting?

Oh, Had Bio trigger yellow on Minhocao. 3x. Had 1 Green too but I don't recall what triggered it.
I asked LS to stop casting bio for fear of smaller pool.
Only V.Bhuj dropped nothing else.

This is from a long time ago, but...

I was in a half-pickup half-linkshell group (terrible idea btw) doing a NM run in Tahrongi. We fought Chukwa. We got greenish yellow bubbly !!'s (just so nobody gets confused, I swear to god...) every time we cast Blizzard III or IV on it, and those two spells always hit for full damage; he partially or fully resisted every single other element. I told people to stop casting out of fear of a smaller lot pool, but everyone insisted to ONLY cast ice spells, as it was his weakness and they had to "exploit" it. We must have got at least a dozen of the aforementioned !!'s on it, one for every cast, and we got a Siege Bow and two Chukwa's Eggs, nothing else.

MNK can use Staff and H2H. Why bring a WHM to DD when you could cover two weapons with one job?

And it's entirely possible that if you don't have a NIN and the mob's weakness turns out to be Blade: Retsu that you're boned for that kill. You always need the right jobs for success, I don't see why this is any different (except apparently needing more jobs).

It is better for PLD to use staff than monk, to use Cataclysm (290 skill).

I can't think of many enemies you'd need a PLD for in Abyssea (Turul maybe?) which is why I said MNK, but fair enough.

Green and Yellow are the same !!, people are just colorblind. Triggered by magic. If you see a Grellow !! and you didn't use magic, someone else did (fix your filters).

I think I missed 2 or so weapon types but its not that hard to get a weapon user of every type in just 1 pt, just make sure they have the skill in all needed weapon types and viola, you got them all without even trying.

Dnc is missing few sword wses? toss in a blue, it doesnt take 18 ppl to cover all weapon, sam alone can cover GK, bow, and polearm with ease.

Edit: I've had the experience of non-100% proc rates while fighting Marvin (Or was it Brooder?). I hit the NM with Thunder III, but it only triggered on the third Thunder III. My friend cast it soon after and received the !!, but it didn't show for the rest of the fight.

Unfortunately though, to cover every weaponskill, you're going to need more jobs than that. For example, War don't get Spinning Slash for Great Sword, Bst don't get Guillotine, Sam don't get Skewer or Wheeling Thrust for Polearm, etc. Sure, you can cover most weaponskills with only a handful of jobs, but there are still quite a few weaponskills that you'd need the job who is most proficient in that weapon type.

One of the times I solo'd Keesha Poppo on PUP it was done on Earthsday. My puppet landed a Stone V and it proc'd a Yellow !!. It only happened once though with Keesha Poppo right at 50% which I thought was odd.

2 Keesha's Pamama and Susurrus Sabatons drop (no Cirque Necklace) also no abyssite or atma

Is this grellow? Caused by aero III, not by any other spell on an 80 RDM list. Perhaps only 1 spell per set procs?
