Abyssea NM Weaknesses

I don't know and don't care to check whether this has been mentioned, but I've noticed that the mob's !! can change without the mob being defeated. While duoing the corse NM at Tahrongi, I was using Fire III since it produced similar damage to Thunder III, but without wasting excess MP. During the fight, I zoned out and returned while my friend kited the NM around the rock. When I returned, my first and subsequent Fire IIIs triggered a !!. After wiping at 50%, I decided it would be easier to HP and solo the NM instead of duoing. I soloed the NM until 25% and continued to utilize Fire III as my primary nuke (Note that in my previous attempt, I changed to Thunder III after triggering the III), but did not trigger a !! the entire fight. This suggests that the !! changed when I zoned in and when the NM went unclaimed.

We triggered Blue !! on Raskovnik and wiped. (We were 75 and new, didn't know it charmed. Dragged us back to aggro and we got raped)

Killed it after regrouping and got no BST cape. Idk if Blue ups the drop rate on rare items like the Empyrean accessories to 100%, but it has in every case I seen, it does. So death probably resets it, losing claim might, zoning more than likely does.

From reading through this thread it seems pretty apparent there's a pattern to the WS's that trigger the "!!" But I need a little more info:

So far I have not seen the following weapon skills trigger:
Relic Weapon skills
Mythic Weapon skills
"First" Weapon Skills (Wasp Sting, Fast Blade, etc...)
>> Any weapon skill below level 40 skill for that matter.
"Skill 300" Weapon Skills (Aelion Edge, Tachi: Ageha, etc...)
The 'Lesser of Two' weapon skills:
>> Cyclone does, Gust Slash does not
>> Red Lotus does, Burning Blade does not
>> Energy Drain does, Energy Steal Does not
>> Freezebite Does, Frostbite Does not
>> Etc...

Any and all spells SEEM to trigger a !!, but was wondering if anyone triggered a !! on a merited Spell, (Freeze II, Slow II, Ninjutsu: San, etc) there seems to be no mention of such an occurrence in this thread. Havent' seen a Tier II or lower nuke trigger either.

I think this should help narrow the field of bullshit weapon skills one has to try to trigger. And I may have skipped over someone making this observation in previous threads, I was skimming this again looking for specific triggers.

Popping a !! just improves the drop rate, on normal NMs it will not make the rare drop 100%. Popped a blue !! on an NM a few days ago and it dropped nothing at all. This is assuming the weakness effect stays on till death and does not as mentioned above wear after a set time.

The pattern for triggering Grellow seems to be that a particular NM is weak to either a direct damage spell (Fire, Bio, Drain, etc.) or an enfeeblement spell (Choke, Flash, Threnody) and then the weakness matches up with the current Vana'diel day.

I've gone over the thread a couple times and haven't seen it myself, but I've not noticed any Grellow procs in this thread where any one single NM can be affected by both an enfeeblement or direct damage spell and proc a Grellow.

How many times did you trigger it?

Once right at 80%, disengaged right away then killed it with magic alone. Nothing dropped at all, no other staggers, no messages had no gear swaps etc that was the only !! and it was the blocky blue one.

Anyone else seen this before? We can't be the only ones that have got no drop on the rare item even though we got a blue !!.

During my LS's orobon killing spree the other day, 2 had grellow triggered by brd songs (Lightning Threnody and Requiem, forget which tier of requiem though) and the rest that we triggered on were direct damage spells (Freeze tier1 was one of those).

Also on Iktomi I've had fights with regular nukes triggering grellow and also a fight where Light Threnody got it.

I'll confer with my duo partner, but I'm 95% sure I had Granite Borer Grellow !! to Stone. Has anyone gotten a Grellow !! to an -aga?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but reading this thread I'm correct in assuming one grellow !! on a NM is 2 seals minimum? Just procced one on Kampe with Earth Threnody and only one seal dropped. Only saw one weakness message and one !! with that on the NM so cannot say we procced it twice.

I'm pretty sure I got 1 seal + rare drop with Grellow !! once on Granite Borer.

I keep seeing this 5 seal max being thrown around here. Just wanted to say I've personally gotten 6 seals to drop at once from Whiro in Attohwa w/ a single Grellow !! proc. Seems like a rare occurrence though if nobody else has reported it. I've only seen it once myself.

just procced a red !! on heqet with red lotus blade. Kiting it atm since wipe due to lowman . went unclaimed at one point but will update when we finish unweak.
Guess we lost the !! on it when we lost claim. Ended up only getting unkai and bale seals.

Has anyone had experience in killing a NM with a spell that procs !! (assuming the spell deals damage)? I still haven't seen anything about that note SE made this update about killing stuff with its weakness. I'm sure they'd have to be referring to this, because killing with an elemental weaponskill for !! would be sheer luck, because that only procs once, as does blue !!...

That being said, I was BLM in a trio that killed Khalamari; Aero III (didn't see day) caused a green !! very early on in the fight; I didn't repeat it due to fear of ruining the drop, and we got absolutely nothing. No helm/necklace, no crafting equipment, nothing. The next fight we did, I couldn't find the green !! triggering spell to save my life, and we got a Coeurl hide. Just lovely.
