Abyssea NM Weaknesses

just procced a red !! on heqet with red lotus blade. Kiting it atm since wipe due to lowman . went unclaimed at one point but will update when we finish unweak.
Guess we lost the !! on it when we lost claim. Ended up only getting unkai and bale seals.

That's coz Heqet don't have atma, so red !! won't give you anything apart from terroring it for a few seconds...

I thought Red generically increased the odds of getting whatever key item the monster drops, be it Abyssite, Key Item, or Atma. That said, I've procced a red !! on a T1 VNM and not gotten a colorful conversion.

Something odd happened a few min ago, I was solo'ing Mangy-Tailed Marvin in Abyssea La-Thiene on RDM/NIN, and when he died, I got a pearlescent light. He died from DoT, Bio III/PoisonII. I thought Pealescent was supposed to be melee kills only?

No, DoT kills are Pearl and always have been.

Triggering any !! more than once will lower the chance of getting the specific drop(s).

We are 100% with popped Red !! on a T1 mob and getting his key item.

Well, I tried to generate amber light out of boredom so I could solo farm large caskets in Abyssea - Konschtat, used Cyclone, and failed to kill the T1 VNM (but got red !!). No conversion. So maybe it doesn't work for VNM but works for other things?

I triggered a grellow twice on Marvin earlier. Once with Stone 4, than he de-agroed, so I assumed I lost the effect, started cycling through my elements and triggered grellow with Water 4. But when he died I still got shit. =/ Was I supposed to try to reproc it after he deagro'd for 2 secs? Or did the effect remain even though the weakness changed?

I think you were suppose to reproc it. I've proced it a couple of times and I'm still 0/8 so I think it's just it being a douche.

Or for the drops they want they might need to proc blue.

So we just managed to proc red and blue !! on Briareus. I personally had no idea if this was possible, but I can definitely confirm that it is. Got both good drops and atma.

I currently focus on 2 elegies -> 8 threnodies -> finale. Does a spell have to land for grellow to trigger? Should I bother with lullaby, requiem, and virelai? If a non-immune spell is resisted, should I recast it? Should I bother with tier 1 and 2 nukes from /sch? Thanks!

Tier 3 and up for the spells.

We have out BRDs spam everything they can possible cast on the mob.

From reading this thread only the following WS will cause red:

Tachi: Kagero, Jinpu, Koki
Blade: Tekki, To, Chi
Red Lotus/Seraph Blade
Clyclone/Energy Drain
Freezebite
Seraph Strike
Sunburst/Earth Crusher(?)
Raiden Thrust
Shadow of Death

Seems like you'd cover all of em with a Nin/Blu for all the Katana, Great Katana, Sword, Club and Dagger skills; and a War for Pole, Scythe, G.Sword, and Staff
