Gaben said that it's F2P with a twist. I don't know what full price would be in a game that's F2P.
The dev team said in absolute terms that any "perks" wouldn't correlate with an in game advantage, so my bet is on hats for ppl that do carebear shit like their mentoring program. In the same way disabling VOIP for dicks imposes a game handicap, I can't imagine that will fly.
What's everyones thoughts on the new HUD? Will take some time getting used too the new items and everything, only thing that really annoys me is the off centered hp/mp bars.
How'd they change the UI? I haven't played in maybe a few days was this a recent change?
Changed happened today, it's only in the test client atm.
I feel like they are trying to move the interface towards something like LoL.
This plus the carebear, 'pay if you're mean' shit really makes me worry about the future of the game. Reading more about the icons though, the courier icon is more informative now so that's cool I guess and movement speed, I feel like there was no way to see movement speed before, it was something that always annoyed me. The worst part is the huge icons to the right of the portrait though, maybe I'll get used to it, maybe it will change.
Spoiler: show
Spoiler for large

UI being off center annoyed me a bit, will take getting used to but not that bad.
I like the stats, call it "similar to League" or w/e but that's a good thing honestly. I felt like the portrait got shrunk though, and I wish they could put the KDA/Creeps back on the top right.
http://esfiworld.com/news/navi-pulve...ys-grand-final my first article~
covered the navi vs clg game today. clg got raaaaaped
You made quick work of that article. When Na’Vi comes out to play, everyone must take heed. In the best of three winner’s bracket final between CLG vs Na’Vi, Na’Vi made quick work of CLG in the first game thanks to the unchecked Invoker of Dendi.
CLG elected not to ban Invoker during the draft in the second match as well which put CLG at a catastrophic disadvantage for the second game - forced to devote two heroes to shutting him down. Although CLG gave it a good effort, Na’vi was able to easily push through a win thanks to Puppey’s [jungle] Pugna wards. This allowed LightofHeaven’s Lone Druid and Dendi’s Invoker to catch back up and make quick work of Pajkatt’s Antimage in the late game. Now Na’Vi get to rest in the luxurious winners bracket position of Sunday’s StarLadder grand finals where they await their challenger from the winner of CLG vs M5 in tomorrow’s losers bracket finals.
(I'm not hating, I accidentally double-up on phrases/idioms within a few sentences all the time...drives me nuts)
Na'Vi is just sick...
Any tips on people I can watch on Dota? I can't find any Na'Vi/pro gamers so I can see their player perspective. I love TobiWan's VODs on jD, but I want to see one person develop sometimes instead of directed action.
And I liked the old UI a lot moreEspecially the item icons. I think I'm alone in this.
Hmm, I don't double up on phrases.. looks like my editor did that. FFS. I turned it in then went to go do laundry. Gonna bitch that guy out for that.
Also, the new UI is throwing off my game like fucking crazy. I hate it.
Dendi is the only Na'Vi that really streams. Besides him pros that stream a lot include Mouz.Singsing, EG.DeMoN, EG. MiSeRy-, EG.Fear. You should follow them on Twitter/Facebook to get an alert about streaming.
I need help countering heroes...Lately, it seems like my opponents always have 2-3 hard-hitting semi/carries on the same damn team. Like I go against an Ursa/Riki/Lycan combo or Ursa/Naix/Clinkz. And then my team is like either squishy heroes or ones that don't dish out that much damage mid/late-game, and we just get raped.
How the hell are you supposed to counter lineups like that? And do I just have to throw in the towel when my team gets like, Clockwerk / Zeus / some squishy hero against a team that has 3 hard hitters..?
Finish the game before they can do anything meaningful. Furion, Shadow Shaman, Leshrac, Veno, Broodmother, Enchantress, Chen, death prophet to push at level 6/7. Closest counter to carries like that would be dark seer which use their strength against them.
For heroes like Ursa and Riki just have everyone get a force staff. Lycan on the other hand is just a beast, the only choices are to get someone to out carry him or just kill him over and over while he's trying to jungle. Also if you have a good carry on your team chances are he is going to get better farm than when you are going up against a team with three carries because he won't have to share. If you are facing Ursa/Riki/Lycan, or Ursa/Naix/Clinkz it means somebody isn't getting much farm.
Yea but then it's like guaranteed that I'll be up against some near-op-farmed freak even from mid-game.
I just played a game as Lich, went 6-2-25 (next most assists on my team was 14, and I got Viper all the early kills) -- my team wasn't good, but neither was their Lycan. Viper and I harrassed the crap out of him in lane and THANKFULLY my teammate would listen to me when I asked to gank their jungle. He started 0-5 by the 15th minute or so. So that was nice.
Don't fight late game heroes on their own terms (late game). The reason carry-play does not dominate the current professional scene is that the pros figured out that instead of playing turtle matches and seeing which carry did better, it was easier to push the fuck out of item-intensive carries before they got their items. That's why you see heroes like Rhasta, Leshrac, Venomancer, Furion, Chen, and Enchantress constantly. Those heroes are great at early pushing, and taking rax down before the 20-minute mark.
The number one thing most pubbers lack is vision. Teams that are ahead often lose because they get over-confident, and they farm instead of taking raxes. Then they get outcarried. Or they whine about no concede and essentially quit on winnable games because they don't understand how to play to comebacks. If your team picks non-lategame you have to get on their ass about pushing. Fuck people who will use mock-nasally nerd voices, just keep harassing them into pushing. Ping the shit out of the map, talk/type constantly, if you're a support threaten to only drop wards on the way to a 5-man gank or push.
In terms of those heroes specifically, Clinkz is a squishy bitch. He will destroy supports late game if he has farm, but a hero like Lion, Lina, or Zeus can roast him early with nukes.
Ursa's best counter, imo, is Viper. Viper's ultimate and orb go through BKB, and Ursa lacks the ability to do anything from long range. You can easily kite him to death with orb hits.
N'aix is a hero you just don't want to get strong, but his sustainability is directly relational to hitting him. Any hero that can effectively zone him helps a lot. So once again Viper can work, but magic based heroes who can disable regardless of magic immunity can work. Rhasta ward traps, good Furions who can tree him through immunity with ground targetting, Bane and Engima (ults goes through magic immunity). I think you can also get a Diffusal to purge rage.
Beating Riki is all about understanding meta invis. If your team buys detection, makes sure to keep him from getting free farm, and pushes together with detection, he is fucking useless. The problem is that one idiot who keeps getting picked off can feed Riki then he gets out of control.
