I do the exact same thing. It was nice at first when ranked international came out because it seemed like every game I got was at least english speakers but now it's same shit. Peruvians running all over the map thinking it's Call of Duty and feeding any chance of winning away.

Still casually play once in a blue moon. I tune out all the massive amount of salt that flows most of the time. Also doesn't help I tend to play position 4/5. Continue to hover at 3.9-4.1k but I don't grind much to really care about the climb.

It doesn't matter what you play - ranked, TI ranked, unranked - there will always be people that don't really care. It's just the excuse they give for why they aren't trying will change.

South Americans is because a) the game is F2P, b) kids are playing at a LAN cafe and they set their searches up to get games as fast as possible, and c) Valve thinks it's racist to accommodate people that want to play exclusively with people who can communicate in the native language of the server's geographic location.

In the 4k bracket it really feels like games are mostly dependent on luck in the system giving you players that can communicate and whose roles mesh.

The problem is also that regional skill levels are radically different, while MMR is global. A peruvian player that checks every language and every american server is still going to end up in SA most of the time, and their MMR is going to be inflated out of their bracket compared to NA players on NA servers.

Valve also believes it's racist to posit that regions have different true skill levels correlated to the same MMR, despite the fact every single pro will verify that the average skill of games is much higher in China.

It's the ultra rare slot on Immortal Treasure II. Pure RNG. May be cheaper to buy it unless you trust RNG to give you a chest.

I think we're at the point in the game's life cycle where, if the team is composed of good pieces, it only takes one boot camp to come out strong. EG, EHOME, DC. Not of course not every line-up clicks (Secret), but you don't need multiple tournaments together to gel anymore. Also being relative unscouted coming in is a massive boon. If teams can do Batman like prep against you, it's a huge disadvantage. Unless you just play a style that no one else understands (Wings, Alliance around TI3)

that might be true. i would consider the group stages the "bootcamp" of eg/ehome/dc because they were struggling before that. dc in particular used to make all these nutty, sloppy mistakes that have more or less disappeared from their game. eg looks really scary right now too though.

and i think as og showed, all it takes is being off by just a little and you can lose it all.

I mean all of those teams have gotten strongER as the tournament has gone on (except when EHOME got demoralized after losing that game to EG), but they were all projected to do horribly in the groups as well. They started the tournament far ahead of where they were projected to be.

At The Summit 5 people spoke as if there was this gap between the favored four (OG, Wings, Liquid, Newbee) that no one could cross, and it really did look like that. Three weeks later...
