I can't even be mad at Kirk Cousins for throwing all those picks, he's been solid 8 games prior to that and nobody is perfect. Plus, we are better than Michigan. That's all that really matters around here anyway.

A loss still means we have a very slight chance at the rose, very slight. I wouldn't mind a bowl game in Orlando, would cut back on my expenses when bowl time comes around.

Nothing serious, it's mostly just speculation I've heard on talk radio as possible suitors (the Chargers have also been tossed around). Plus, I'm just trying to perpetuate shady rumors again in a vain effort to try to get him out of Eugene.

I do admit he's doing a pretty damn good job out there. Not many teams could do as great as they have after losing one of their good RBs from a couple years back in Blount and their QB in Masoli. Then again, looking back..neither were that great.

Well.. if it's down to Wisconsin/Ohio State, isn't the tie-breaker thing in effect? Not sure about MSU since..didn't they avoided both teams (or at last I know they avoided OSU).. either way, there will probably be two Big 10 schools in if all three have 1 loss.

From the Big 10's official website:

B.Rose Bowl. Unless ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in the final BCS poll, the conference champion shall participate in the Rose Bowl. The championship shall be determined on the percentage basis of conference games (tie games counts ½ win and ½ loss). If there is a tie for the championship, the Rose Bowl representative will be determined as follows:
1.An ineligible team shall not be considered in the standings for determination of the conference representative.
2.If there is a tie for the championship, the winner of the game between these two teams shall represent the conference.
3.If there is still a tie, or if the tied teams did not play each other, the representative shall be determined on the percentage basis of all games played.
4.If there is still a tie, the highest-ranked team in the final BCS standings shall be the representative.
5.If more than two teams tie for the championship, the same selection procedures shall be followed with the following exceptions:
a.If three teams are tied, and if one team defeated both of the other teams, then that team shall be the representative.
b.If three teams are still tied, and if two of the three teams defeated the third team, the third team is eliminated, and the remaining two teams shall revert to the two-team tie procedure.
c.If three teams are still tied, and there is a tie game between two of the three teams, or if two or all three of the teams did not play each other, the representative shall be determined on a percentage basis of all games played.
d.If three teams are still tied, and one of the three teams is eliminated through the percentage basis of all games played, the remaining two teams shall revert to the two-team tie procedure.
e.If three teams are still tied, and all three teams have the same winning percentage of all games played, the highest-ranked team in the final BCS standings shall be the representative.

So if Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State all finish 11-1, I think it'd be down to item (3e), which would be highest ranked in the final BCS standings. I am assuming that (3c) refers to all games played total, and not just all games played amongst the 3 tied teams, which would point towards 1-0 Michigan State over 1-1 Wisconsin and 0-1 Ohio State in the head-to-head.

Having Phil Knight funding your program helps. Granted, I remember looking at some of their previous recruiting class rankings and they were good, but not great.

Well for one, the article on ESPN poorly written. From what I understand, this has been looked at for a month+ and Newton's folks already sent in bank records and what not that didn't look out of the ordinary. A blind fan could say that this is a simple case of 'guy who didn't choose the other school does well, all the sudden, allegations come out'. It's not like the Reggie Bush fiasco where Bush's folks started rolling in the cash. Still though.. I worry because we've been on probation before.

I've actually read this whole Cam Newton thing as this:

He had a guy (hired or not) supposedly "represent" him when he finished his juco year after Florida. This guy was at the time asking for 200,000 for Newton to sign a letter of intent after leaving juco. That was allegedly bumped to 180,000 for Miss State since Dan Mullen was there. No word if the same offer was asked of Auburn.

Outside of the monetary issue which could be linked much easier to Cam and his Family (direct or indirect) than it ever could be to Auburn University, there to me is the bigger issue of if this guy counts as an "agent" under the NCAA's definition. Which if he does, wouldn't that mean by obtaining representation that Cam had unofficially declared himself a pro aspect and thus negates any further eligibility he may have?

Yeah, which would mean that they'd have to vacate all the wins from this year, meaning this year basically never happened. That's what's got me worried. I'm not silly enough to disregard this completely, even if the story is full of some holes with the way ESPN write it + it just now coming out. Still, though.. it's been tough to be an Auburn fan lately, and this just pisses me off more than anything.
