It's not a matter of them doing nothing for me... i've smoked blacks before, i don't remember if i smoked a cigarette before. but I was trying to figure out the apparent effect of smoking it initially, like what was the lure of it other than just because other people were doing it
This is what i was looking for i guess...
People smoke because what else would you do with that 80 bucks you dropped on a carton of cigs? I mean yeah you could just burn the money, but then you don't get the bonus of tons of serious medical conditions!
All srs though, my mother smokes a cigarette every now and then to calm her nerves when worry about something due to her chronic neck/back pain and spine problems on top of money worries.
yeah I took it for whatever the normal course is (120 days/4 months), I didn't have insurance but the price per pill was actually less than a pack of cigarettes. When I quit I had been smoking 1 pack a day for around 8 years.
They tell you to set a quit date 1 week after you start taking it, up til that point you can still smoke. After 3 days I noticed I had my urge to smoke when I woke up in the morning was severely diminished, and on the 7th day I woke up and didn't smoke at all that day, and I've been smoke free for like 2 years now. Sometimes I'll have a weird craving here and there but I really never miss it.
The biggest side effect I had was nausea. You really need to eat a solid meal around 30 mins before you take this to minimize the nausea, but I still felt it. I had to just lay down or take it easy for 15 minutes, and it would go away. I know people who've had really bad nausea and couldn't take the medicine because of it. You also have WEIRD fucking vivid dreams, not really nightmares or anything, just incredibly detailed and bizarre. I though it was cool lol.
A big thing for me was starting to eat regular meals (to deal with the nausea) and exercise. I lost like 20 lbs when I was quitting, just from walking and eating healthier.
You definitely have to want to quit too. There are probably people out there who are social smokers or can quit with willpower alone. I am definitely not one of those people, lol
They are too expensive in the USA. Maybe if they were a dollar like they were when I lived in Ukraine I'd still buy them.
I smoke cigars occasionally but rarely ever smoke cigarettes. To me it is only a social thing. There is no other reason for me to smoke.
I passed by a store today that has a sign advertising $8.00 for marlboros
Before they banned kreteks (clove is considered a cigarette flavoring under the new law) I actually enjoyed smoking. I never smoked a lot - maybe a pack a week, with a week off in between. But I did it because I liked how they tasted. Kinda like how some cigars are trash and some taste really good. Kreteks (and sometimes American Sprits) were my good cigars, compared to Marlboro trash.
I quit smoking when the ban went into effect; one year in October.. The most tobacco I get now is in my blunt wraps.
I don't smoke now, and I absolutely hate being around people who are smoking, hate the smell, hate having smoke blown in my direction, call people who smoke bad names etc. But when I did smoke briefly for one year I really liked it. Mostly smoked after having a few drinks or whenever I was stressed.
I remember buying the chocolate flavored camels lol those were actually kinda tight.
I quit cold turkey, and it didn't really bother me; however, it's been about 4 years now, and I sometimes still feel like I want a smoke.
Same reason people bite their fingernails, suck on their thumbs, eat lolipops, etc
I've been smoking a bit way too much since I get back to Indonesia, all kind of kretek brands, for around a dollar a pack
It's gonna be hell to cut back once I go back to the states...but I suppose the 2 carton allowed by the custom should last me a good 3-6 months hopefully.
I am not other people, and I do not claim to know other people or what they find satisfying. I have my own vices, and so do those who smoke regularly. But this is me on smoking:
I only smoke when I am out with my friend/brother, as they do it regularly. Usually there is some nice draft beer involved, in which case it makes it enjoyable. I would not do it otherwise.
I suppose the idea of sitting out on the patio of a brewery with a nice IPA and a cigarette while bullshitting with a friend is just an enjoyable feeling.
I mean, I smoke because I don't know what to do with my hands.

Mind if I smoke?
Fuck man. Smoking. I'm really weird about it. I will smoke for months, quit for a month or more and then smoke again.
I am trying to quit again, and being around kids is something I will hope make me keep with it. I don't want to be a bad role model or smell like smoke around students.
Why I did/do it is beyond me (EDIT: First cigarette I had was in middle school, smoked sometimes that year then didn't smoke until 18. since I was 18 it has been off and on for four years. ugh.). Sometimes I just like the smoke, like breathing it out and watching it. I really dislike the smell (sans cloves) and the taste and every time I really want to smoke and then do it I just feel crappy (unless I am drunk).
I will allow myself one pack of Lucky Strikes when I land in Japan though.
People smoke because if they stop, they get irritable and confuse this with a stimulant actually "relaxing" them when really it's just staving off withdrawal.
Tobacco probably has the worst enjoyment:health risk ratio of any drug. At least things like heroin actually get you high while they kill you.
When I get stressed smoking relaxes me. I also end up smoking when I drink a lot, I'm not sure why though.

Sorry messed up damn quote. Wasn't paying attention.
I like putting my mouth to the butt of a fag and sucking.
