    Starcraft Screenshot/Replays Thread

Thought I would make one and include replays since there is no other place to put them right now.

So a friend and I were doing 2's and got paired vs some really good people and lost 3 of our 5 placement matches and got placed in bronze.

I don't know what has changed but we can't get out of it currently even though we won like 10 matches in a row.

    SS to show ya.

Yea so when do we advance a league? I mean we are fighting decent people(not just rolfstomping them) and still can't make it out of here.

Anyways if you have some replays or some SS's you wanna post then post em here.

From what I understand, it can take up to 30+ games after you are placed before the system is willing to put you into another league. Also, I've heard you need to have at least one loss to be considered for a higher league.

That may sound strange but if you consider how the matchmaking works, its probably not that weird. The league you are in is of no importance when it comes to who you are facing. If you are in the top of your silver division and winning most of your matches, the system will start to place you against golds and higher, while you are in still in silver. So if you are only winning all your games, the system will probably gradually keep placing you against better people until your lose and then decide on your new league.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

I didn't lose my last league match before promotion. Went 9-1 and poof Silver League ahoy!

Also about half way through when you sent the DT's that intercepted the hydra army and got like a good 20 kills between them, was that on purpose or just dumb luck to catch them like that?
I only expanded after I scouted my neighbors and judged myself to be safe. When I saw red expand at the gold, I knew I would be fine. In FFAs it can be really important to expand early. If you are too aggressive, too early, you are right that you may kill players that are trying to sneak by (compare me to red, he went like double expand off 1 marine, lol), but you can't kill everyone at once. If even one other player gets away with an even slightly early expansion, it can really screw you over. If the zerg was next to me though, and I had scouted what his build was, I would certainly have played it a bit more safe.

The DTs hitting the hydras where they were was a bit of a fluke, but I did intend to slow down blue. I wanted to make sure none of the three players got to go too long on their own unattacked, otherwise their army would become unmanageably strong. Just got lucky that his hydras were right there. Honestly, it probably would have been better to either run by and hit his mineral lines during the attack (so he wouldn't notice) or pull them back to kill hydras during the main army battle (where its also unlikely he would notice). But it worked out anyways.

Oh man I should post one of the placement matches I just did in a 3v3. My friends pulled off a hilarious mothership baneling strat that left the terran saying he felt violated, lol.

I'd like to see how that works. I know you mentioned it in the other thread.

Argh, lost the replay. Forgot about the lack of autosave =/ Wasn't to the full effect vortex+baneling can have, but it was still pretty awesome. First time got all the units, but there weren't that many, and second time got more units in the vortex, but there were a lot outside that just got hit by banelings regularly. Still awesome though, the motherships cloak on the banelings made them not even know what was coming, they just saw themselves get vortexed and then no units came out (or rather, came out and insta-died), lol.

I believe if you go to the recent tab under the view replays tab, the last 10 matches are autosaved.

google sc2gears and dl, when it's running it automatically creates an archive of all your replays so you dont have to manually save anything.

It was a lot more than 10 games prior, I played a good 30+ after that lol.

I may look into the SC2 gears thing tho, thanks.

When I delete the last 10 saved the 10 before that appear. I think it saves every replay somewhere; similar to how it saves all of your campaign saves.

I think, anyway. But I have been able to watch my last 40 or so games while my internet was out last night.

Haha, I love storm. I know most protoss tend to go robo builds, but I have always loved templar builds so much more, as storm is just too awesome.

I believe they save up to 25 games in your replays folder in My documents, which is probably how it adds extras after you delete them from the recent. But yeah, it was too long before that.

In my experience, expanding aggresively always pay off in FFA unless you are unlucky with an early rush and get attacked on all 3 sides at the same time. Even if you lose your main, you can build a solid army on the opposite side of the map in no time. One canon usually turn away other players since they can't scout you properly, and couldnt tell exactly what you had.

Beside, there is no advantage being the first attacker. People hold grudge, and grudge might cost a lot in that kind of games.

Ok so here's a hilarious game I just played.

Some Backstory I had been playing terrible lately, I lost like 14 games in a row and went from 5th in my division to 95th I just couldn't do anything right and I actually played terrible this game. I had no idea what I was going for and was behind like 20 food 8 minutes into the game. Thankfully the other guy made one huge mistake that resulted in a hilarious end to game:

    Spoiler: show
The guy loses like 50 Hydra's in 5 seconds because he decided to do a doom drop in the worst possible spot

Hm, seems I exaggerated the "40" games.

And lol, couldn't find the folder that holds replays until now. Thanks!

Im terran myself, I tend to go hard tech for thors and use banshees cause they rock but I was watching so many areas where that terran and his army had you dead to rights but the guy wasnt spending his minerals when he should be and wasnt managing his army properly, otherwise he pulled a lot of come backs that led to him getting wiped out for not being efficient

doesnt seem like there is much of a counter for a good psistorm player but pre-sniping them with air units that cloak seems to be the safest way to play it
