2- Finding the building of a mosque near ground zero insensitive is different than finding the building of a mosque near ground zero obscene. Finding it insensitive would mean you emphasize with the people who would be uncomfortable with the mosque near ground zero. Finding it obscene and insulting implies something else entirely.

Insensitive and obscene are pretty much the same thing, they only differ in degree.

Insulting, now that's different. If the guy is smart he would never admit to building it as a symbol of some great Muslim victory. We'll likely never know.

A. The center is planned for a lot where a building was destroyed by landing gear from one of the planes. We've been over this, repeatedly. It is, literally, on the site of the destruction.

To recap:

Whether the Muslims building near ground zero are insensitive or whether they're secretly trying to stick it to America or not is irrelevant in regards to the issue of whether they can build there or not. If they bought the property, they have a right to build their community center there.

1- They already stated their intent for building that there. If you want to doubt it, it's on you. Don't claim they're doing it for reasons they did not claim unless you can prove it.

2- Saying they're insensitive is more reasonable. Somewhat. Saying that they're insensitive means that they did not consider how others would feel. I assume they considered how others would feel, but decided to build anyway for the reasons they stated. That building near ground zero was the most appropriate place to do this given what happened there. I understand their reasoning.

I do agree though, that by appearance, they may seem insensitive, but fortunately, that's irrelevant when it comes to them being able to build there.

You don't have the right to not be offended. Percieved offense does not invalidate the right to freedom of religion. Most of the manufactured outrage is from a vocal minority of bigots, of that I have no doubt.

You may think it is insensitive, and in one instance perhaps it is insensitive to that vocal minority, but the more widespread phenomenon of islamophobia is wrapped up in this and there is no excuse for that, because that is bigotry using offense as an excuse. Simply practicing catholicism used to be considered offensive in certain parts of europe at certain times, I think we can all agree that despite whatever outrages the catholic church participated in in europe in the past was no reason to prosecute peasant catholics in protestant europe depending on what king/queen was on what throne at what time right?

I know about this Mosque, and there also is another one built 10 blocks away from ground zero too.

This argument will fade away sooner than later, I don't see how people can use this as a huge argument without making themselves look like a bunch of fools. I'm a conservative type democrat Christian, the so called "Christian America" is suppose to be tolerant and acceptingly kind, not hating and ruthless towards others religious beliefs. All the hatred toward the mosque is just political. It's not like they're building it directly on top of Ground Zero in order to launch terror attacks from the site where they destroyed and killed thousands. They already said they will build a 9/11 memorial inside the mosque too, and it'll be a place of worship and community center too.
