I wonder if anyone else is a sickened as I am by the reality that so many people will thoughtlessly chime in with "Why bother talking about good stuff? Nobody wants to hear that crap," and then wonder how the hell Glenn Beck, Ann Coultier, and Rush actually have an audience.

First of all, Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the states. Being born there immediately makes you an American citizen. So yes, Kuya is American.

Second, people like Beck and Rush have an audience because they prey on the really stupid fucking ignorant masses that actually believe their shit is real and tune in. It has nothing to do with positive or negative news.

Well so far in this thread we have determined that, Kuya is American, and Kuya might possibly be the most patriotic American for always questioning bad things that happen in the country and wanting to fix them to make it better.

I forgot to comment here. Yea, i've heard commentators mention often that all this hoopla can also be explained because of economic hardtimes. As in, looking for someone or something to blame for why things are the way they are. But do you think the republicans do this with the specific intent of diverting people's attention away from what is really the cause of their troubles or do they do this reflexively? I don't see why they would do the former since it's not their problem. They're not the ones in power so they i don't think they need to distract from anything.

Sort of a rally cry, so I guess its done sort of reflexively...although they do still need to rid themselves of the Bush era; Dems are now in charge, but tons of people (and not just far lefties) still view Bush and being associated with him as being largely responsible for a lot of our problems. Hence the repubs on the offensive and a return to the laughable reverence for Reagan and constantly mentioning him while no one ever mentions Bush.

They want to get back into power and a good way to do that (without actually doing anything) is to stir up fear and anger throughout their base supporters. Muslims (and I would throw in immigrants too, although how the two are attacked differs) are such an easy target, just makes sense for repubs to use them as the catalyst for widespread anger and fear. Definitely feels good to be angry at something when shit is going bad. One (immigrants) are stealing our money and a drain on our economy while the other (muslims) are pure evil, 9/11, hate our freedom, kill our young soldiers, terrorists, 9/11, 9/11, etc. It even helps that Obama has a Muslim sounding name, so they can kind of subtly (or not so subtly at times) tie the two together for uber efficiency.

The exact date of Eid al-Fitr this year is not yet known. Muslims follow different authorities on moonsightings and astronomical calculations to decide when a holiday begins. In North America, the eid could fall on Thursday, Sept. 9, Friday, Sept. 10, or Saturday, Sept. 11.

Fareed Zakaria of CNN gave back his Anti Defamation League Hubert Humphrey 1st Amendment Freedoms Award over their (ADL's) stance on the Islamic community center & Mosque in NY.

A lot of ugly things showing at protest sites and that batshit crazy Pamela Geller with her Atlas Shrugs hate conspiracy site and her hate baiting bus banner does not help legitimize her cause. For some one supposedly so concerned about hurting feelings and peace, she is putting a lot of effort into generating anger.

This is actually the first time i've ever heard it mentioned that muslims died at wtc.(non hijacking ones I assume).
I just tried to look up the numbers on google and the closest thing to even mentioning muslims dead was some racist site saying that they only care about dead muslims when the infidels do it.
Does anyone have any real numbers on that?
