Lol, I had to do a double take when I saw the giant Roe drop to the ground right before I made my way into the cave. I defeated myself :O

You should get a title in-game.
"Self-defeating."
I've seen something like "x uses Brandish on x" before. I forget what caused it though.
I really want to love this game but for some reason I can't play it for more than 1-2 hours without going "meh" and logging off.
I just did my Guildleves and was about 1/2 way to the next level so I decided to go grind. After about 10 mobs I just hit alt-f4 and walked away.
It's weird because I can't figure out what causes this. I'm a huge hardcore MMO fan and have no problems going 5..8...10 hours in one sitting. It's not the grinding part either. I've had no problems grinding for hours in other games.
I just can't put my finger on it.
I think it's a combination of slow/laggy combat responsiveness and the random nature of class exp. I can fight some super easy mob just using auto attack and gain 350 class exp and the next fight (same mob and level) can end up being a sweaty palm battle to the death where I almost die multiple times and only gain 45 class exp.
I really hope the changes in the next phase are amazing and suck me back in because I need a MMO to play this winter and I SWORE I would never buy Cata and get sucked back into WoW.![]()
Or it's the fact it's a beta? Why'd you feel super motivated to play then?
You sure you weren't poisoned? Chigoe type mobs have a nasty poison TP move that has been known to kill a few people. We aren't used to it and the on screen combat text doesn't list dots so it can be easy to miss.
Well the fact there's no real content in the beta it will be the same thing over and over and you'll eventually go 'meh' to it after awhile ignoring the bugs that already hinders playability.
Open beta will have a little more content to it.
Could someone explain to me why people are upset with the 48 hour leve cooldown?
The way I see it, leves are for casual players, and a boost to everyone else now and then. I don't think leves was meant to be the primary way to level, what about quests and party grinds? Do you really want to repeat the same gameplay over and over on a 24 hour cooldown?
If there will be any other quests that is D;
But party grinds? Come on~
so any one know when open beta starts? regular beta has been kinda eh to me.
and eh I rather have 24 hour leves instead of 48 hour ones
They are pretty fun
Party grinds don't currently work because the XP is so low that it is faster to solo unless you fight REALLY tough mobs, which tend to one-shot you with AoE because we don't have gear.
Tanaka has said, now, that leves ARE the primary way to progress in your class, and they are looking for ways to make leves more appealing for groups, including adding more skill ups.
Personally, until they find a way to even out the amount of skill you get, party play is kinda biased towards melee who can keep on going, whereas mages need to AoE stuff for good skillups and they'll run out of MP if they do so.
so does FFXIV have the regular quest where you go kill x amount of mob, then finish the quest?
Oh man, is there an easier way to find the target npc for Local Levequests other than running around the entirety of Limsa?
