AC2 all over again :/
Some people just want to level 1 class and thats it, some like to level multiple ;/
its what i liked doing in ffxi... almost had enough to do maats cap after 3 years from NA release, did the same thing in wow... maxed out the account on all max level characters... and I'll endup doing the same in ffxiv
different people, different play styles!
Yeah but even with those in places, it seems much too dependent on levelling straight up, there's no "subjob" requirement, no buying spells, nothing else. There's way more numbers and customization than FF11 even at endgame.
It's like meriting from level 1 if you can think of it that way.
Considering how several classes' abilities bond well with others, a mono-class character is going to be looked down upon the community not very far after the release.
The game community will never allow a player to stick to the same class without having access to the other classes' abilities, it's like hitting the level cap in FFXI without ever unlocking subjobs.
Sure you can do that but you're going to be avoided by almost everyone because you're automatically labeled as a gimp if you choose to do that.
In other words, it's not even worth complaining about the surplus system. Death > exp loss sucked big time in FFXI but that didn't stop people playing the game. It's going to be the same deal with a different system.
A bit of a downside of that is that every class seems to have some ability to contribute to another. I can't pick one to level, and have at least four in my mind which seem to benefit each other. I don't really want to level four classes though...
I would really like to see the Actions/Traits glitches dealt with first and foremost... I had to log out to fix a glitch where only Stone Throw and Wide Volley would be in my actions bar, everything else refused to appear no matter what class-change macro I hit or if I did it manually.
Also, is there noticably weird aggro going on in this game? I was exploring/fishing in Cassiopeia Hollow and nothing was aggressive towards me other than an Orobon that chased me a while and a room full of Magicked Skeletons... Then, I AFK'd in a hallway with a Sea Hare and 10 sec later, it blew snot at me and killed me. Returned to the nearest gate thingie and proceeded to run through a bunch more Sea Hares without issue...
That's kind of awesome.
I was looking around how the mobs move and interact in relation to you, and it was actually pretty cool. Dodos will walk up to you and stare at you from distance, checking you out. The cute cottonball sheep will follow you around for ages, etc.
I kinda got attached to the sheep that was following me around, I let it tail me while I was grinding on puks.
that's hilarious... yeah it was Mucus Discharge.
Are there any areas where Spriggan appear normally? I found one in that Firefly/Beetle cave right next to Bearded Rock Camp but I'm assuming it's one of those weird NM place-holder mob placement things as it hasn't repopped since.
I never liked MNK in 11 but god damn PUG is fun to play. I want to main gladiator but I'm not a huge fan on manual guarding.
We've gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love. If it's worth having it's worth fighting for.
On a serious note, I don't get why people are worrying about the lack of content. What did people do in XI before level 30 apart from a few story missions and easy quests? Fight, fight, fight some more. Then people got to level 50 and AF and LB were big events. We've seen maybe 10% of the content in XIV.
10%? I'd say more of a 3~5% ... It's a beta, not even a demo.
Subjobs
chocobo.
advanced jobs
airship pass etc
If SE takes anything from XI I really hope it's milestones like those.
From how 14 is implemented so far, there's no more of those little small quests. What mog upgrades, no mog, what subjob, you got job change on the fly. It starts out as it's merits from level 1. Maybe LB and AF that's about it, but you don't feel you've accomplish something from the start.
Exactly, all those little things are nice milestones for newer players to strive on, getting that airship pass was a godsend in the early days.
It's just too much number crunching, max/min, the reason why I left 11 after 5 years of that.
I feel the same way. Took me so damn long to find a shield only to learn that you have to activate it every 15 seconds for it to do anything. It's very effective but so damn tedious. And because it's so effective you have to glue your eyes to the log to see when you lower your arm to reactivate because when you're doing sword attacks you can't tell the difference between having it up or down.
