It's stupid it would get nerfed now since before last patch they said they're increasing exp gained from leve mobs, and that seemed to be it. Now we're back to old values so it would make what they said pointless.

hmmm what drops growth formula alpha i wonder.
on the flip side if the decrease gains from low exp mobs, they should also increase gains from high exp mobs.
also i was wondering if surplus is like a build up from attacking low level mobs, then the reason you dont see instant change could be because it takes time to minus the surplus, i will say i have seen it go down from 1/2 now down to 1/1 could be server resets or something though.
Nooo I broke my character lol
Changed classes then talked to the Behest NPC, got stuck in the conversation and couldn't exit. Now whenever I log in I get stuck in the now loading limbo :D.
Good thing I got my 2nd char still >_>
@Meonline
Ah,
@The patch
Grindfest now with less fun
I got stuck talking to the Behest NPC too, but when I closed the game and logged back in I was fine. It kind of sucks that there are somewhat rarer bugs such as this that only a few thousand people are able to report (at least half of which probably don't even play anymore), so we have no way of knowing if it will ever get fixed.
Woot finnaly got back in.
It's server side, SE will know about it because unlike players they have access to database logs and if there's data corruption coming from a particular sector they'll look into it and find the error floating around.
I'm in the camp that believes surplus lowers on a set timer. Logging out for a full 24hrs took me almost back to regular exp. Within 30 minutes of hitting stuff I was back to 30%. I haven't found a food that helped at all yet and I've sat and eaten 10 different foods in a row.
I don't know what we're yelling about crafting about, but we fully understand the basic system that's in place right now. It's half implemented which is why it seems nonsensical (oh boy I hope so.)
Stamina bars randomly bug out. It comes and goes for me. Sometimes faster. Sometimes slower. Sometimes you'll go to attack a mob and your stamina will drop to 0 for no reason and it'll take 15 seconds or so before it lets you attack. Sometimes weapon skills grey out when they're on timers. Sometimes they still show as available. Sometimes it will decide to show :00 instead of the actual time remaining. Who knows what's going on.
...to force more partying......so you can't even level outside of leves if you wanted to...Hmm. Perhaps I misunderstand how a beta works, but... shouldn't those "other" activities be an incentive in themselves? I mean, nothing to say against a little guidance, but... something seems rotten when the only way to make people test more than a tiny fraction of the content is to force them....to force people to do other stuff then just XP...
I hope this doesn't translate into the actual game, and is just a sign of "we want to release on time, so sorry guys, we have to push you a little now", but some things make me wonder whether SE got the drift on the word "freedom".
For example, the "freedom of customization" with abilities from several jobs seems a fantastic idea at first sight, and perhaps less so at the second. Imagine you just LOVE halberds and lances. All you ever wanted to do is to poke that oversized chopstick into someone's eye. But dammit, that LV 40 Gladiator ability, as well as several LV 30 traits of Conjurer (e.g. "Complete Control" etc.) sure would benefit you a lot. And of course, you need some money, so leveling a craft or gathering skill may be a given...
I am not against grind in general (good opportunity to rant with other party members), but... does this mean that, to be able to play the role you want to play (Lancer/good stats/reasonably well equipped), you'll have to grind as, e.g., a Gladiator, Conjurer and Botanist? Where's the "freedom" in a system that expects you to spend countless hours playing a role you don't like to be able to do what you like (chopstick->eye) with acceptable proficiency?
Wasn't the big selling point of FFXIV "more freedom of playstyles" some months ago? Why do I have to play a Conjurer to get a good bonus for my Lancer stats?
Best part is..you don't have to do that. You can still play lancer purely if you want, however per usual people will call you gimp and etc if you don't have x,y,z abilities.
Just because it's there doesn't mean you HAVE to have it. The freedom of playstyle is there, however you have to take into consideration the community won't let you play how you want to.
Which pretty much means you will have to do it... it the same thing as leveling a sub job really.
Jesus, Destinye, stop stating common knowledge.
The way you put it sounds like SE is unaware of the fact there's something like a "players community" in MMORPGs.
...
Damn, now that you mention it... that could actually be the case.
...
Anyway, even if the community wasn't there, I would like to be a "good" lancer (well, not really... that was just an example... but you get the point!) without being a Conjurer/Gladiator/Marauder/Thaumaturge/Botanist/Carpenter first. Freedom to play what I want to [can I has it]?
At the moment it seems XIV might contain even more threadmilly game system components than XI...?
Ok, I know this question might be really really retarded, but I haven't found an answer to it yet even by asking other beta testers.
How do I sent a normal tell or perform a /search function as I know it from FF11?
I supposedly am on the same server as a friend, however when I use
/tell Name1 Name2 ...
it doesn't show any message, even if the tell is not received. Is there an equivalent to the /sea function of FF11? Or how do you find your friends in 14? I don't get how we are supposed to communicate in this game other than randomly running into someone. ><
