There are so many things that you can put up into feedback after playing/test the game. It doesn't matter on what you should test. For example, the menu interface. I'm believe they still need a lots of opinions that to improve it, although they do improve a little, but need more.
Besides, the change of battle system is also the results from the "test" and "feedback" from players.
From my experience from this beta, they seems to be don't want to be like, "try this and this if this thing work or not". Instead, they seems to be concerned on "how you feels with the gaming design/environment, what should we do on it for improvement".
they barely touched menu's (and related stuff) since p2 > p3. I'm assuming it's just been fixed / changed and they are waiting until retail to push the build. It seems like the beta build is a good chunk behind the retail, and they only patch in stuff that they want to have tested on a large scale (i.e combat, stability, graphical related)
Ul'dah regions look like HD Sarutabaruta/Tahrongi/Buburimu lol.
Man.. I'm pretty pumped/hyped after seeing those screenshots. lol
If Gridania is some kind of Jugner/Zi'tah hybrid, I wonder how Coerthas will look like.
Hell yeah. How much they're ahead of us, we'll see it in Gamescom.Man.. I'm pretty pumped/hyped after seeing those screenshots. lol
That target icon hasn't gotten any prettier since Alpha. I hope they change it at some point =_=
^ Not surprising considering that many of the caves look like the bottom floor of garliage, and the hollow looks like that tunnel the galka came through under bastok (forget the name - its been so long).
Recycling areas should be a given considering that FFXIV is a super souped up version of XI. There was a lot of life in those areas, and, if Limsa, which looks like a La Thene/Highlands on cocaine, is any indication, those areas will have even more life in this version.
I'm waiting to see their next gen Sanct. of Zitah. That place still looks great all these years later.
Edit: It looks like our current character creation is going to be pretty much the same at launch, which dissapoints me slightly. I was hoping for more ways to differentiate myself from others besides scars and tats, but its a small thing.
X2 Edit: There's a lot of "FFXIV = FFXI next gen" statements in that article. I wonder how many purists here will rage knowing that its a common belief?
Btw. they added another issue on the site, with the chat log disappearing.
I liked the screenshots but that whole article was just an useless wall of text that just shouldn't be read by any mortal. I can't wait for Gamescon to see video of these higher level characters and the interviews. We've seen alot of low level and it's lackluster so i'm excited!
Seems thats the trailer carnival scene is Ul'dah intro (with Gobbue in cage and all).
And
hough we did run past several townsfolk who had pre-scripted responses to say, as well as a few item shops that sold items far too expensive for our humble first-level character, such as new types of armor and rideable chocobos for rental
And wtf
Unfortunately, our high-level character session didn't run as smoothly as our previous time with the game due to some network stability problems that seemed to come out of nowhere. Again, FFXIV doesn't ship until next year and the game is in a very early state, so it's natural to expect a few technical issues at this stage in the game. Regardless, we did the best we could with our level-40 Miqo'te lancer at Camp Broken Water, a desert mesa region reminiscent of Arizona's Grand Canyon.
those screenshots are awesome, they are definitely taunting us with that ;/
If they can get the exp'ing and ui stuff working in the beta.. retail looks like its going to be real fun/orgy of newbs spamming in starting areas....
ah the memories of ffxi.. naked infront of windhurst punching bunnies and bees...
/y OMG HALP YAGUDO AGGRO aaahhhhh
Man fuck those stupid ass people that wrote that article.
Yeah Gokulo, I found that hilarious. I wonder if they'd have more to say about the bugs and hitches if they realized it launches next month, not next year. The picture caption is correct, though, in stating that the PC release is "soon", while the PS3 is "next year".
Edit: "We tried several times to form a cohesive hunting party with other writers invited to the event so that we could run through some higher-level levequests offered by the camp's aetheryte crystal, but the network problems prevented us from getting very far (in the current version of the game, disconnecting causes you to automatically leave your hunting party)."
They then promptly gave up on trying to group. Hilarious. Is this SE's supposed "advanced" build that should be nearly perfect since all of their massive in-house teams are working tirelessly on it?
There's a Goblin in West Sarutabaruta, near the entrance to Port, who was the first thing I ever died to in FFXI. Every time I got a new WS, new Great Katana or anything else, I went back and murdered that little fucker. He was the first thing I killed when I came back for a month, too. Remember me, sunshine?
Would it surprise anyone, having read this thread, if release slipped? There's a reason I haven't purchased my new GFX card yet ^_^
Don't worry. Wait a couple of minutes for a post how "They decided to hold the final build only for release" or other b/s explanation and justification :D
That doesn't matter. They use it as an excuse for game being buggy and all and they played the PC version not PS3, which is being released next month.
