Which is daft, because they will ALWAYS have to deal with it. Its the nature of modern MMOs (and probably the older ones too... ffxi was my first so I wouldn't know.)
The HotNcold minigames for Disciples of the Land are obvious choices to discourage botting for these classes. The durability/quality bar on synths for Disciples of the Hand too is a fairly obvious ant-botting choice.
The same could be argued for surplus xp, if that indeed makes it into the final build. It discourages botting because at some point the bot will simply stop earning skill points.
And again, Guildleves on a 48hr timer seems to be to stop gangs of RMTers (the Zooa/b/c/d-types) from abusing the leves and reaping in rewards.
And on paper, these looks like brilliant ideas. Unfortunately, they also unfairly punish the people who just want to play the game.
I really like the concept of Thaumaturge, for example, and I'd like to play it to cap. But under the current system I don't seem to be able to, because by the time I get to level 20 I'll be earning more surplus skill than actual skill, even though I have played other classes to 10+ as well.
Why on earth am I being punished for playing a game that I am paying for and (at least potentially) enjoying, by the leeching my enjoyment away from me simply to combat the bot issues.
Bots aren't going to go away, so why should we suffer for it?
