This is why SE needs to knock it out of the park because people feel like they still aren't listening. According to yesterday's core interview just proves they still have a lot to learn when it comes to community responses.

I think it's very premature to knock a game for it's bugs while in beta, some people are a little overboard about it or expected too much from a game we all know is being rushed hardcore.

Like i've stated a number of times in my posts, it doesn't matter what they fix, how cool the game looks if at the end of the day they listened to nothing the community has said then what does it matter? eventually doom will await. The community wants to hear SE, people are still skeptical about if they can turn around the perception that has plagued them for six + years with their last MMO.

People are going to have low low tolerance for BS this time around and most people who played FFXI were loyal FF fans and are hoping to have a good time in 14.

Really starting to get irked by combat positioning. They obviously want it to matter and be reactive.. seeing as everything you do is registered from the left/right/front/back on every single mob. I see a backflip coming a mile away, and know what I have to do to avoid it. Can I? Not often, because the frickin auto-attack animation freezes you in your location until its over. Not even a cast, the supposedly 'instant' standard attack. Forget about the lag or 'readying' delay too. Even if you assume they're going to fix that, which they may.. you still can't frickin move until your little swing is over.

I can't even think of another game that functions this way. No way to cancel a cast, no way to move while acting, and every action rooting you to the floor. Seems like the complete opposite of what they want to accomplish with positioning on paper. I don't even mind the nonsense when toggling active/passive, but having it happen while in combat is pretty lame.

On a complete fanboy note the art is beautiful. Maybe the greatest lesson they can learn is at the sales department.

    @Kuro
Have you had any trouble attacking mobs your facing to the point of having to bawtsecks them to start the battle start. You're not facing the mob, while it's in your view and couldn't possibly have moved cause of lag, since your cone of vision is wider than the available space the mob could have moved. This issue for me gets tripled if there's a small incline in the terrain not a cliff but just a small dip.

I agree. I don't mind unknowns in a game, just so long as I know wtf is going on around me, and my head isn't spinning more than it is at work.

Unfortunately, I highly doubt that they're going to be fixing this aspect. I don't think that it's going to be a very dynamic combat system, just like XI wasn't (was any of the FF's ever, I never played most of them?).

Read a few pages back no Hardware mouse..... maybe they won't even let me alt tab now. Windower can't come soon enough.

    P.S.
Arrow Helix is the coolest animation ever now if I could only have it not miss 80 times.

I think the best thing they could do is just straight up talk to the community. Maybe there is something we are missing, maybe they intend us to play certain way, maybe there is something we overlooked but we dont know because SE does not talk to anyone.

People are going to bitch until the day this game is released, and on release day 90% of those people will have a fucking hard-on to get into the game regardless of what they said. SE knows this shit so they just do what they want.

Don't think anyone questioning that fanboy/girls won't run out and buy this game.(If they haven't already)

Most things have been said at this point. The one thing I did notice today as I was bored and just went back to Cassiopeia Hollow to see if anything had changed was that the Sea Slug monsters were now aggressive. Now if I had my battle chat frame open I probably would have seen the "is aware of your presence" line come up. However, the best thing XI did was have an audio cue for aggroing any monster. As a matter of fact, every MMO that I have played since, has some sort of audio or visual cue when a monster has become engaged with you. Why not XIV? The first indication I had that it was aggroed was the "skill" animation that hit me for 1500 and an instant death.

I get what you're saying, but still.

I hope they'll make sounds eventually, though. Usually I'm too busy to be checking the combat log and the sound is the only hint I have.

Yeah I did the same thing ran past them one time and got gibbed when I came back thinking that they weren't aggressive. Then it started casting and I ran and still died.

Those sea hares are broke. I get one shotted every once in a while there, got hit a few times and survived, and when I WANT to die, I run on top of them and all around them and they don't kill me. I don't get it.

I'm kinda annoyed at the battle system too. It's pretty unresponsive. I'm going to play the beta card here, but I'm already sick of the "click ws, lights darken + spot light, ws animation" taking 2-3s for one skill. It's just so damn slow. I never run out of stamina anymore. The light toggle for ws is getting old as well, especially when I go Skewer(miss) > Feint > Trammel (miss) > Feint > Full thrust (miss) > Feint. Are they trying to give me epilepsy? Crafting at this point is just pulling teeth with how slow the damn menu is, not to mention if I go too fast scrolling it resets at the top of the list, making it especially hard to figure out any new recipes. Who would have guessed that this time around every mob drops cotton bolls and moko grass. Leve mobs need to get balanced already. More hp, maybe a somewhat lower attack for more stars? Heck maybe just keep the attack the same but boost their hp. Pre 30 leves are just so boring, and 30 leves are really only interesting to see any new mob types(the occasional cactuar). Mages need some significant enimity balancing since casting one cure seems to be an auto KO for them. I also assume we'll have our character data wiped at least once more for open beta, and then again for release, so at this point I'm kinda just ready to wait out release. Grinding lancer and these crafts one more time will probably kill retail for me, and I'd rather get a taste of the finished product to see if I'll be playing long term or just for a month or so.

At least one thing I can take away from FFXIV beta; I'm a whiny bitch when it comes to beta bugs and I should just wait till release.

Hey, at least the game looks good!

Yeah that shit is annoying. Always happens to me when the mob is on a different elevation. Doesn't even need to be that high up or down low, the slightest difference in elevation gives you that stupid error. Wasn't like that in Alpha.

Those slugs are bugged. Its not on a timer, and it has nothing to do with how close you are. They are just randomly spamming WS. Was not like this in early Beta / Alpha.

I really think they should just dump the Battle Regimens and go back to Skillchains. I really don't know what they're trying to do with BR, and it really doesn't seem that different from skillchains anyway. BRs don't seem to have those big explosive effects that skillchains used to have (those explosive effects would look great in ffxiv, especially if they make them more elaborate), and miss those effects. They could always beef up the damage produced by the skillchain or add more elaborate special effects. Not to mention increase magic burst damage. Again, i really don't get where they're going with BRs.

Well, BR's are the one thing that's going to change soon anyway at the very least, so I wouldn't draw any conclusions there.

BRs slow down the pace of combat so much. Even when you know how to do them, they don't go off and when they do the debuffs don't last very long. It's a chore to setup with other people and you really can't do much while setting up for BRs. It kinda locks you out from doing some other abilities while waiting on people which begs the question: Why bother?

Skillchains would work much better than that pos. They need to do something drastic with that... cause right now it doesn't go well with the battle system one bit.

Dont think its bugged..Sea Hares just randomly 'discharge'. Nothing weird about it, just don't stand near them for too long. I've showed people how its worked before by standing on top of them till they charge, then running away from it.

S'actually kinda cool imo. You know, mobs doing something besides just pacing around waiting to be engaging.

Yeah.. but things are far too spammable for SCs to work. Especially when a lot of the regimens just use the basic attack right now.
