Because a lot of Japanese shows (excluding anime) that we try to bring over here don't catch on too well because it seems to lose a lot of it's humor. Look at the show "Hole in the Wall" which was extremely hilarious in Japan, but when it was on Fox, it wasn't as funny because in the Japanese version, they'd purposely make shapes every so often that were damn near impossible and the players would fail no matter what they did. For instance, they had one where a chubby contestant had to to fit through a very small shape. Something like that wouldn't fly on the US version because it would be seen as discriminatory.
