Just got it to work on the 5th try. You really need to twist hard at JUST the right moment. Contrary to the video, though, I find it works better if you add a bit of sugar to the water, instead of using pure. Pure water has no nucleation points, so it's harder to form the standing vortex.

Thought everyone learned to do this shit in middle school, though...

Are you using distilled water? I couldn't get it to work with tap water, but worked after like 6 tries with distilled water.

I've also heard about sugar or salt added to tap water for it to work, you could try that. Also, make sure your cup isn't too big or too small.
