As much as I disliked the bs politics when I was in the Air Force that would be a solid recommendation for you in your situation. I think a lot of young adults could use a kick in the ass in a good direction. If anything do your 4 years (honestly after BT, Tech School, and moving to your new base and getting orientated it's more like 3 or less). Get your training and certifications for your job on the Government dime. Get out and make bank. Hell I don't even have my degree yet and spent 7 years in. I got out and made $80K starting. The Air Force is quite easy too, they're trying to ramp up more deployments but even if you do go to Iraq the chaces of being in danger on an Air Force base out there is pretty damn slim especially with everything built up out there the way it is. Just make sure you get a solid guaranteed job before you sign anything. Don't just run in and get dumped in being a cook or a towel bitch at the gym for your time in.

Eh, more like your parents want you to a) figure out wth you're going to do with your life (believe it or not, they really worry/care about this from what it sounds like), b) get the fuck out of the house. They've dealt with you for 20 years. It's time they had a break.

20 is still really, really young too, so it's going to be tough. Most people, guys in particular, don't get a clue till 25+ really. Hell, I was happy as could be working as a framer/carpenter until my body started to give out on me and I realized I couldn't keep doing this forever. Now I'm 28 and heading back to college to make a drastic, and badly needed, career change.

I'd say do what you can to start working full time and get out on your own. Be it military or the regular work force, you need some more real world experience. I wouldn't go back to school yet unless you have a clearly defined path as to what you want to accomplish with it, otherwise you're going to waste time and money. As for financial aid, you don't need to take a class or anything. Research it online, talk to people at community colleges (and I'd recommend going to a community college for 2yrs, then transfer to a major university to save a fuck load of money). It's pretty easy to get if you genuinely need it. Pell grants are usually the best route to go.

tl;dr - Your parents just want you to get some direction in life and they want their well deserved time without you. Bust your ass to get a full time job (regular work force or military). Only go to school if you're ready and research financial aid on your own.

This should help ya out a bit:

    Ty :3

I had been out of their hair for about 2 years, moved out at 18 and back before 20. I'm sure they enjoyed the time w/o me but I know they are really loving the rent I pay because it's much needed. After looking at everything Air force might be where I head.

For the class on financial aid it was a free thing at the community college so I'll figure it out one way or another

Best of luck to ya man.

I forgot to mention one of the most important rules in all of this though. No. Pregnancies. Wrap it and tap it, but if you fire off a stray, your plans won't be your plans anymore.

I know it sounds silly, but 99% of the people I know cockblocked themselves (uh, literally) on what they wanted to do by having a kid wayyyyyyy before they were ready.

Yeah, you can still go to school and blah blah, but it becomes exponentially so much more difficult that most people just give up.

What you won't know is that there are TONS of grants and monies out there for you to GO to college. They will straight up give you extra money for living expenses as well. I don't know where you live, but the cost of living can't be too high I imagine. Couple that with instate tuition and you shouldn't have too much debt coming out of school. Which, don't misunderstand, is a GOOD debt. You can have your own place or even live in residence all on the dollar of the student loans.

IF you do take that route, don't fuck off in college whatever you do. Go to class get good grades and get the fuck out of there. Drawing that out and then dropping out and paying student loans without having anything to show for it is crap, (trust me).

Yep. Pell grant is covering my tuition, books, and about an extra $800/semester to help with living expenses.

If you do think the Air Force is what you want I would suggest talking to a recruiter sooner rather than later. Getting a job guaranteed to you can take a little longer than if you go in and take whatever they feel like giving you.

Also the recruiter is going to bullshit you till they are blue in the face, they do have quotas to meet like every other service. They're going to try and be relatable every step of the way, they're taught to be like this. Just know what you want when you get in there.

    http://www.airforce.com/opportunities/enlisted/careers/

Here is some basic descriptions for the jobs out there. I would not recommend a field that does not translate to the real world very well. I know of quite a few people that have retired and are stuck because their 20 years spent as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician doesn't give them jack for experience in the real world.

you should just camp outside dynamis zones, buy unused meds, and RMT it for rent.

sounds like getting your ass handed to you in the military for a few years would do you some good. Barring that Americorp has been good to a few friends of mine.

Nah, don't move out because you have nothing going on.

I'd try to talk to the folks to give you some time, find a better job, and contribute more. I don't know if you give them shit and want your ass out of the house. Folks usually don't toss their kids out like that unless there are some major reasons w/o giving them a chance to get their shit together. Anyway, if they agree and you find something better, stay under their radar, go to school, pitch in, and don't fuck around.
