Any groups out there on BG looking to recruit more people to play with? I'm on generally everyday due to a fuckup at school this semester.

Really like doing 2v2 but FFA 3v3 4v4s are fun too.

Probably gold ranked player overall but I'm in plat with all my 2v2s.

How do you get plat with all your 2v2. I'm always scoring bronze/silvers going 4-1 or 3-2. We usually crawl back to plat after if we play long enough...but shit, take a while.

99.9% of bnet population thinks that the rank and division your placed in after your 5 placement matches is based off wins. this is not true.

sc2's placement system is very sophisticated, it scores you off pretty much everything you do and ranks you accordingly.

so if you 6pool and win your 5 placement matches you'll more than likely be placed in a lower tier division because players above gold (opinion) generally know how to counter a 6pool.

No, it does not score you off everything you do. It scores you off of wins and losses, and takes into account factors including the relative rank and skill of your opponent, but it by no means takes into account specific game details (like average unspent resources or APM or whatever). Wins/losses, and opponents skill are more than enough to give some pretty sophisticated results though, just look at the success of the various ELO systems in other sports.

They may be able to aggregate other statistics though, and I hope they do. They may not need them to determine an accurate ranking (they may actually inhibit one in many situations), but they are incredibly useful and informative nonetheless. I hope they find a way to make such information accessible so that the many casters have more data to look at to explain why certain players do what they do.

This essentially defines the term "False".

Your placement is based primarily off of the ELO-esque score of the players you go up against.

You cannot place people based on ingame score and whatnot, as the scores begin to skew rapidly when another player starts winning. Additionally, a winning player may drop their APM significantly when the game is sealed for obvious reasons. Scoring off of that would be ridiculous, and so easily exploitable (spamming clicks during the first 2 minutes of the game, etc)
