My friend's PS3 kept getting an error(I forgot the number, but according to google searches it basically meant that you had some type of corrupted data) that was preventing his PS3 from reading discs, so I had him do the 'hold down the button till 2 quick beeps and select -3. Restore File System-' thing. That ended up fixing the error problem, but then it stopped reading discs. No error or anything. The little clock thing in the top right corner just keeps spinning. I had him try that again and then had him try -4. Rebuild Database- and formatting but it still didn't do anything, so I decided to take it home and see if I could find out what was wrong.

First thing I noticed by comparing it to my PS3 was when I start it up, his blu-ray drive makes a loud spinning/blowing type noise like it's trying to accept a disc, which later on I found out that that is exactly what it's trying to do because I would put a disc up to it during the noise and it would suck it in quick. Another thing I noticed was that I had to push the disc in a lot harder than usual. I opened it up and checked if maybe some cable was disconnected/loose, but it looked fine to me(I'm not an expert at this, though, so I may have missed something.)

Anyways, I can't find shit on google because every time I include sound/noise in it comes up with the 'clicking noise' problems which isn't what this is. I'm pretty much convinced that he's going to have to buy a new one or send it to Sony, but just in case, does anybody here know what's up, or know of a solution?
