It's possible the issue could be caused by not having pixel/vertex shader 4.0 support. I have no idea if that is it or not, but I do know that PS4 and VS4 have been out for a while now and I think the minimum req. card SE listed supports them. Just throwing out possible ideas.

Yeah but this is for the freakin' client. Not the game. Do you think the client uses PS4/VS4?

Sorry, I had to do it:

Not a game, not a game, not a game. We talkin about the client. Not a game! Not the game. We not even talkin bout the game, the actual game, when it matters

Anyone had BSOD's trying to run the client? Some guy is and I dunno how to help him. His PC his more than enough to run the game. Told him to update drivers atm.

Cant get past the log in window where you enter SE Id, password and one-time password (token). The red "Log In" button doesnt do anything, and wont highlight when I mouse-over it. Anyone have any idea? The link "Dont have Square Enix account" works, but the log in link/buttton does not.

I found the solution to my problem.
Had to lower the security level of my Internet Explorer to low (had it on high before) and suddenly the login-button worked. I'm sure there is a specific option responsible for this problem but i'm lazy and use Firefox for normal web browsing anyway, so i just lowered the complete security settings.

To the OP: your problem is the video card, the geforce 7 series is not supported. The client is in directx and probably using some features not supported by your card.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Solved my problem finally. It is definitely something with internet explorers security. After trying everything else (including a full reinstall of ffxiv) & fuckin around with various settings in IE (simply lowering overal security didnt work), I finally just restored default settings (Tools menu > internet options > advanced tab > Reset button). Launcher worked fine after clicking that.

Thanks for this, it fixed the problem for me. Ofc now when I log in it says "Maintenance", but at least I got somewhere.

ETA: I had to also set cookies to default in order to not get the Maintenance screen. Sheesh.

I can't run the client either but my GPU is an old Radeon X1950XT. I'm pretty sure thats the problem right? I didnt expect it to run but I just wanted to be sure there isnt another way to get it running.

Service pack is just a large host of security fixes and some additions, no wipe is needed.

My friend tried to run on new Mac Pro through bootcamp, hwoever, he keep getting the "Final Fantasy XIV has stopped Working" error message.

    Faulting application name: ffxivboot.exe, version:
    0.9.1.0, time stamp: 0x4c24bc27
Faulting module name: ffxivboot.exe, version: 0.9.1.0,
    time stamp: 0x4c24bc27
    Exception code: 0xc0000005

For the space, from what I could remember
    Xeon Westwood 6 cores x 2
    12Gb Ram
    ATI 5770 x 2
    Window 7 64bit bootcamped

We have confirm the driver is up to date to 10.8, but it seems not to be ATI driver problem like most of other user since the Fault module path appear to be ffxivboot.exe instead of atiumdag.dll. Anyone have any idea?

Getting this error, used the mouse fix also. If you dont have the old files do you just delete everything in those patch folders and then re-download?

they warned you of this error ahead of time, either you dl the hosted .exe (link in thread) or you have to delete all the beta and down load all 5 gigs again for being slow
btw, the patch'es have nothing to do with the error.
