    Altar 150 steps
    Menhir 190 steps
    Obelisk 240 steps
    Axis Mundi 300 steps

Obviously no undo and each are completely randomized every time. If you co-op it cuts the steps down a bit and supposedly the difficulty but meh. Babel alone makes Catherine a plat worth bragging about.

I'm selling my copy. I don't need the frustration and can just pull the Babel ending off youtube if I need it.

Interesting twist to the overall arc though.

Oh holy shit, I thought you had undo. W/o undo I won't even bother trying that much since its so easy to fuck up.

Didn't know Babel had it's own ending. Need to go watch it on youtube lol. Oh, can you do babel on easy or super easy? lol

If you're going for plat/all achievements Axis Mundi is glitched on both US versions anyways.

    Here's the long version:

Babel isn't entirely random. You get block patterns within certain parameters based on the stage and the difficulty. For example, in the first Babel stage you always get the wide wall about halfway through, even though it may have slightly different patterns of cracked blocks. This is the case for all stages, although in some cases it's not as noticeable.

The problem with Axis Mundi is that, for whatever reason, on the NA version it upgrades to Level 2 after 5 steps instead of 20 or so. This causes a pattern to fall that is often unsolvable, and speeds up the blocks behind you. You often end up in a situation where you need to "tornado" or whatever, but can't because the stage has fallen already.

It's possible to get past this, but it's incredibly rare that you get a configuration that allows it. There are a few people who have done it on the NA version, but it's almost always luck.

Note that if you play on co-op this bug disappears.

So I'm gonna bump this thread to ask a recommendation question. This game is 10 bucks used at gamestop right now is this worth picking up now that I just recently got a ps3? I've heard some really bad things about this game over the years but I've always wanted to try it.

There should be no remaining mysteries about the gameplay elements. Either you're good with platform puzzlers or you ain't, this game gets brutal by the end.
The writing is probably the most mature treatment given to relationships between grown men and women I've ever seen in a video game. The acting is pretty good even in the localization and the design/animation are top-notch.
Packaged together that's well worth ten dollars if any of the above appeals to you.

If you like puzzle games, and have patience (as well as the mentally to keep trying) then this is a very enjoyable game. The story is fun with a lot of choices and the game play can get super fast paced and hectic. There are a lot of techniques that you can use (and are taught) for how to get around certain blockades, so you gotta remember the good techniques.

Of course, I played on hard and got my ass kicked, if you play normal or easy you can probably breeze through and enjoy the story/presentation. It's mostly talking/character stuff and there isn't a lot of explore (just a bar) but still, good game, good story and lots of fun. Also, music kicks ass.

I would kind of say to play it on easy and pick whatever choices you feel most natural throughout the game. Then the second playthrough aim for a different ending/save more people on a harder difficulty. I made the mistake of playing the game on hard at first and then on... it was either the 3rd or 4th night that I just met the wall difficulty being raised through the roof and found myself snapping the controller in frustration.

Easy is almost like a tutorial and training for the harder difficulties.

YMMV if you're really good at these puzzles. I'm kind of bad.

I definitely agree that this is one of those more mature stories in that it deals with sort of the adult relationships instead of the high school/teenager ones. I really liked the subtle stuff in this game as well.

I just watched the whole story of this game on youtube last month when I remembered the game existed and that I wouldnt get to play it. Story was very interesting. I kinda knew but wasn't 100% sure what was going on. I really enjoyed it. Well, watching it. Atlus has its stamp on a lot of great games.

Atlus is bringing back Catherine, its unique, 2011 puzzle game developed by the Persona team. A PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita remake is currently in development, the company revealed this week, with updated visuals and entirely new content planned for the game.
Where Catherine: Full Body switches things up from the original is when it comes to both the challenging puzzle system and the story itself. There will be new difficulty levels, according to early details from Famitsu, as well as new mechanics to complicate the block-switching puzzles. There will also be online multiplayer battles in the PS4 and Vita version, unlike the original, single-player release.

And during the day, Vincent will not only have to juggle his feelings for Katherine and Catherine, but a woman named Rin. She’ll add another wrench into the story, which adds new cutscenes and even a handful of new endings.

Quite a bit more to this version though, so it makes sense they'd make dlc for a new game ;p
