Last I checked Sony charges 16 cents a gig, and the PS3 demo weights in at just over 900mb. Granted the amount charged could be different for JP PSN.

Would like to know how much they budgeted exactly so we have an idea how many times the thing was downloaded.

Awesome, I just downloaded it a day or two ago. Haven't gotten around to playing it yet though.

I was somewhat interested in this game myself, but I agree the actual gameplay just seems a bit lacking. If it was a variety of different kind of twisted "escape" type mini-puzzle game things it might not be so bad. But if it's all just climbing the block tower thing, it just doesn't seem worth it.

I find myself strongly drawn to the very grown-up POV (the main character in this non-FPS game is 32, think on how rare this is in games) and how unflinchingly it confronts the anxiety of a man pressured to put down permanent roots versus continuing down a slacker bachelor route. When I think on it, this is largely the reason I bought Heavy Rain. It asks the gamer to make some very realistic choices about their own personal values. That's great goddamn storytelling, and well worth my money.

Game is really fun, but if your expectations are different, you may not like it. Game progression is very similar to an eroge or the like. It goes like this, for the most part: (spoilered incase you don't want to know what the game is like. No story spoilers below)

    Spoiler: show

    1. *Anime scene in the AM, usually involving young Catherine >

    2. *In-game scene in the afternoon, usually involving Katherine or Vincent's friends >

    3. *In-game scene in the evening, at the bar "Stray Sheep" >

    4. *Control Vincent at the bar. Talk to people, get info. Play with the jukebox, play the arcade game, drink ale. Receive and send text messages to Catherine and Katherine >

    5. Go to sleep, enter nightmare. This is the block climbing part of the game. Clear a sub-stage >

    6. *Small free-roaming areas to talk to sheep. Get tips, tricks for clearing certain block combinations. Can buy items. >

    7. Enter the next sub-stage. Another block climbing area. Usually a boss is chasing you this time. Clear it and go back to Step 1, for the next day.

*During these areas, you will occasionally have a chance to make "choices", which sway your angel/devil meter. Where your meter is at during certain cutscenes changes your interactions with Catherine and Katherine.

Just a heads up, the game is mind-numbingly difficult. I'm playing it on normal, and some of the stages took me 30+ tries to beat (I'm probably about 1/2 way through my first playthrough). I would recommend starting on easy, as lame as it sounds, to get a feel for the game.

Ordered it today, probably won't get to me for another week. I was expecting Persona with Puzzles instead of dungeon crawling. Just hoping my moonspeak skills are up to the task of the text messaging interface.

The text messaging doesn't seem to make-or-break much so far, just changes your angel/devil meter. It's all done from the characters perspective (obviously) so it is simple colloquial Japanese, for the most part.

Well I'm more worried that he or either K/Cathy would use some weird japanese text msg abbreviations. I'm sure any foreign student of english just blinks at "omg wtf r u 4 rl?"

I was very sad to hear that this still hasn't been licensed in the US and hasn't been announced that there are plans to bring it here either. Sad

Game seem too niche to make it in the market here IMO

And they keep shut about localizations until it's ready to be shown.

I really hope it gets localized, I'm interested in this game and hearing it's hard makes me want it even more (lol).

I hope the patch doesn't kill the difficulty, just adds new difficulty options (so you can still play it how it was originally was). If I'm playing a fast paced puzzle game I don't want it to be easy as shit. Even though I'm sure most people got this solely for the story and fanservice.
