doesn't matter of beeing on geohot's, ofw or w/e. for every brick report, there is another one confirming it works. i'd wait too until they figured out what's causing the bricks.

Some people bricked their PS3's because they tried to update from 3.41 to 3.55CFW. I'm kinda laughing at the people who jumped on this CFW so fast without waiting for others to test things out then they brick their systems.

I got Geohot CFW running on mine. I waited until last night to do it. Definitely not an early adopter on CFW.

My old PS3's laser died long ago, been using it as a media center (music, pics, dvdrips, tvrips).

Been @ 3.14 forever, updated directly to 3.55 Official Sony FW, then GeoHots 3.55 Custom FW.
I got the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Emu's and all ROM's no problem.

Been trying to get Super Street Fighter 4 to work off the XMB but no dice. It does work with the Loaders but you need a disc in and my drive is busted.

I can't get Open Manager or Gaia on there cause you need to compile it somehow cause its not legal to keep its pkg in the zips.

Patience is the key, Im gonna try Red Dead later today though.

Edit: Yes Waninkoko's Custom Firmware can brick your PS3, Wanin has been hacking the hell out of the Wii, through his stuff my Wii is softmodded and I run all games off of an old external hard drive I had. He's new to the PS3, but not to hacking. He needs more practice.

With PS3 system security in disarray, hackers and cheaters have run rampant on Infinity Ward's Call of Duty games. Players unwittingly placed into a hacked server can meet the unfortunate consequence of losing all their stats and, unfortunately, it doesn't appear a fix is in sight.

"Games rely on the security of the encryption on the platforms they're played on," Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling explained on the game's official forums. "Unless the security exploit itself is resolved on the platform ... updates to the game through patches will not resolve this problem," he admits, adding, "at this time, we do not have the ability to restore or adjust individual stats."

Although Bowling adds that "we are looking at every option available to us to help any user affected," it appears the situation is quite dire, especially when one considers the workarounds Bowling suggests. You can submit a PSN grief report, play exclusively with friends via private matches, or play Black Ops, which does "not rely solely on platform security" -- something Infinity Ward promises to learn from in future games.

Which version of the game are you using?

The problem with RDR is that you have to keep re-installing and replacing the param.sfo and pkg everytime you want to play again.

Some methods only work if you have played the game before too.

Which game(s)? Some games need to be installed in certain folders other than dev_hdd0/BLUS####/USRDIR/ otherwise you would get a black screen or error.

An example would be Blazblue Continuim Shift : the data would be in dev_hdd0/blazblue/USRDIR while the pkg is in dev_hdd0/BLUS####/USRDIR

Some games do most of then would go into the same one that has the EBOOT.bin. Check the list link I posted up top it has almost all the games so far and some have special instructions. The only problem is some of them do not have instructions even tho they need them ( like the Blazblue one i posted)
