Fucking gamefly taking forever to ship me my first game. Signed up on Sunday night and I still haven't gotten it.

Any clues as to if titles being next month are gonna be backup compatible?

New to all this... I tried reading through the thread but its a bit overwhelming and this is not something I want to halfass..

My PS3 is currently running ver 3.50. Which hacks do you guys recommend and just making sure that these are soft-mods like the Wii hacks and not something I need a chip for? If its even possible for my version. Just a quick response and point in the right direction will do.

Gonna post this again. It's really the most helpful thing, and pretty error proof. It gives links in the description for the files you need. Just take your time and do as the video does in order.

You'll want to update to 3.55 first (which is included in the download) then follow the rest of the instructions. It's continued in part 2 which is right there as well. Hope this helps. I did everything in about 5 minutes. Yours will take a bit longer since you're updating to 3.55

I haven't watched that video but... how the fuck do you stretch out how to do it to over 10 minutes? You can give instructions and a download link to the only thing you need in 30 seconds.

1. Download the kmeaw patched PUP file (http://www.ps3-hacks.com/file/267)
2. Create a folder called PS3 on an external storage device, in that folder create another called UPDATE, make sure both are in capitals.
3. Put the PS3UPDAT.PUP file in this folder.
4. Plug storage device in to PS3, go to Settings on the XMB and select System Update, choose to update from Storage Device.

Done.

Edit: I just noticed it says part 1 too... what the fuck?

the guy overexplains it and does the entire update while telling you what to do.

it's pretty thorough. i used it just cause i was drunk and it was great

You can't log in to PSN on CFW anymore. Should tell you you need a system update which obviously you don't wanna do.

i'm guessing 3.56 is out of luck at the moment for installing any sort of CFW?

Yeah, no luck if you're on 3.56 unfortunately. Also I take back my last post, apparently you CAN still connect to PSN on kmeaw, but it's a bit of a convoluted method.

Not much interest in PSN personally right now, but hopefully by the time I want to actually use it again there's an easier workaround for it.

It was enough of a hassle connecting my ps3 to my school connection, think I'll just not bother with the PSN, not that I ever really cared for it.

(and only one more year of school, yay)

Yeah I saw that when I started googling for it. Not gonna try it till theres an easier method. I'll just play MvC3 offline for a bit until it comes in then format and play on PSN again. Leave my PS3 on 3.55 till next time I wanna play something early. lol

multiMAN is awesome, gets updated pretty much every week.

The new PSN workaround involves creating your own certificates and fucking around with dev_flash, apparently it's harmless but fuck I'm gonna try it. I just went ahead and got my 60g fixed and use that for online play.

e: Apparently the newest update for multiMAN removed the ability to play backups (you're gonna have to run the lv2 patch everytime if you want to) Best not to update it.

Haven't been following news the last few days, noticed there is an OtherOS replacement installer, I'll install the modified Debian tomorrow and report results if anyone's interested.

Trying to launch with a disc, or discless?

Also for multiman hold select and push X when launching a game....see if that works
