Anyone know of other game emulators getting ported to ps3?

The snes one popped up pretty quickly, kinda surprised to see no GB/GBA emulator so far...or even NES

Just don't run any PSP ones.... they are more than known to brick your ps3.

somebody has taken it upon themselves to port FBA (Final Burn Alpha) to PS3.

Basically - CPS1/CPS2/CPS3/Neogeo emulator and some other arcade systems.

I know I want to see this myself. They can feel free to take whatever is of use to them from the SNES9x port.

You're better off if you want to play new game releases. Sony has apparently mandated new game releases utilizing 3.42 and 3.50 SDK which gives new game encryption keys so they can't be pirated at the moment and no one knows how long it will take to get them working. The new Medal of Honor is apparently one of the first to utilize it so it is unplayable, and following launches will probably be the same.

coming from the jailbreak guys, i wouldn't put too much hope into it. we're still waiting on their awesome new backup manager with the jaw dropping features for over a month of first given release date. it's supposed to be the 20th now.

Looks like they got Metal of Honor working. Was posted on blackcats, some people have gotten it to work.

But basically they talked about how the PS3 totally failed in security, by botching the pki implementation it became possible to calculate the keys needed to sign everything, in short PUBLIC PRIVATE KEYS!

Live 4 minute demo will be available tomorrow during the 2:30hour CCC's Lighting Talks (will update this video once it happens), and possible tools for developers to be released within a month, but their goal right now is to release a AsBestOS.pup so all can enjoy full Linux on their PS3 console, even the Slim PS3 owners!

tl;dr for less technical people, these hackers have found the key that is used by the PS3 to find out if a software is legit or not, which means that very soon all sort of signed applications will be released, no more USB dongle limitations such as firmware updates etc, the whole PS3 OS could be replaced.

Sony cannot change the key as it'd make it impossible to use already released games/PS3s

Long as Sony finds a means of keeping cheaters from using PSN, I don't care what people do with their PS3s.

A lot of the stuff I could use on my PS3 I can already do on my PC. Main reason the PSP was popular for homebrew was because of its portability.

Anyone who's taken the effort to understand cryptography & DRM knows it's never a question of IF failure, but WHEN failure.
And the PS3 won the "when" game compared to it's competition.
