    I had forgotten about those since I upgraded to Oa3 during the FW craze. Will wait to see how the af3 boots enhance FW before ditching these I guess.

    Def down are generally better than fire Taipans, but *only* if you're the only DD using such a weapon. As soon as anyone else brings one out (especially one of the weapons with better proc rates than H2H), Fire wins.

    Fire Taipans are also more consistant in damage. You don't know if or how much of the def down effect you're going to get in any particular fight. If the def down procs on the squishy mob but not on the tough one, it could end up behind overall.

    Sometimes the OATs (std h2h) win, sometimes not. The more variable scenarios I check (gear, mob defense/stats, abyssea buffs, hit rates, etc), the more difficult it is to find a 'best' weapon. Taipans beat OA2-3 FW outside Abyssea, but FW beats them inside. OAT (standard H2H) is a smidge ahead of the Taipans, so that puts it as the winner outside Abyssea, but still losing to FW inside. And all that is just against a single mob target using limited gear sets (not using Tantra gear this time).

    Wouldn't h2h still beat footwork when you have a cor in your pt? Chaos/fighter, footwork isn't getting nearly as much from fighter as h2h

    Hecatomb feet or Black Sollerets for Guillotine/lolInsurgency etc? I'm leaning toward black, its 3 STR against 8 att on a job where my base at 85 is 91 and I tend to have abyssea STR buffs for a lot of the stuff I do on it lately, just unsure.

    I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but search came up with too many results.

    Homam Body vs Hauby+1 for Pally TP

    Also:
    MKD hat: I can't seem to decide what hat to make. I have a good mix of jobs leveled up and enjoy playing both backline and frontline jobs. Does it even really matter anymore with the introduction of AF3?

    Thanks in advance.

    High end gear (full Usu, Strigoi, Thew, Osode for WS, etc; took highest DPS non-Tantra gear for each slot).

    With Chaos + Fighter's Roll, 2x March, and Abyssea buffs, and no Boost used (slows things down for both sets):

    Fire Taipan +1: 180.222
    Poise+FW: 169.937

    Standard is 6.1% ahead.

    With Dnc in place of Cor (Haste Samba & Presto+Box Step per mob):

    Fire Taipan +1: 197.277
    Poise+FW: 195.845

    Standard is 0.7% ahead.

    So with cor support, standard h2h wins handily. With dnc support they're nearly tied.

    With both Dnc & Cor:

    Fire Taipan +1: 254.989
    Poise+FW: 232.186

    Standard is 10% ahead. The additional gain std h2h makes compared to the first sample is because FW is going past the attack cap by about +20, while standard H2H is just pushing against it.

    Same comparisons, except using Tantra +2 head/legs/feet, and adjusting other gear (Shura body ends up best for most configs):

    w/Cor:

    Fire Taipan +1: 195.690
    Tantra+2+FW: 183.704

    Standard 6.5% ahead

    w/Dnc:

    Fire Taipan +1: 215.329
    Tantra+2+FW: 211.461

    Standard 1.8% ahead.

    If "Enhances Footwork" means 15% att boost instead of 10%: 221.615 (2.9% ahead of standard). This doesn't affect the Cor sets since those already go past the attack cap with FW (for this particular target).

    w/Cor + Dnc:

    Fire Taipan +1: 270.573
    Tantra+2+FW: 238.529

    Standard 13.4% ahead

    ~~~
    Summary answer: Yes, Corsair heavily favors standard H2H pretty much across the board. Dnc (without Cor) works equally well for either, though standard tends to have a slight edge.
    Does heca hand/feet+1 have any place in a ws set anymore over the current gear available? More specifically for WAR DRK.
    From the WAR perspective: Hecatomb Mittens are still a solid choice over Perle Moufles, but I strongly suspect this will change when AF3 hands come out. Leggings are only a +1 STR upgrade (unless you +1 them), so it might not be worth it for you.
    If your wondering about Thew bomblet vs. Charis Feather, I'd say (and i haven't mathed it out) but since DE isn't a natively crit-able weaponskill, Thew bomblet will get you higher numbers.
    But if your not capped on Acc for DE, your better off with B. Tath (their pretty cheap now)
    When it comes to Evisceration, I haven't gotten my charis feather yet, but I can almost bet the house, that Charis feather is gonna be your best option, especially with Climactic flourish active.
    EDIT:
    So taking my 75 mnk up to 85 (Finally ><), I haven't a single piece of salvage gear (i sux, won't argue that) But I'm wondering what sort of food/Gear combo I should be worrying about when it comes to Abyssea exp alliances || inb4youcareaboutabysseaparties ||. I've got 6/8 H2H merits, no magian weapons for h2h, no real mnk merits in group 1 or 2 (nothing to speak of anyway, 1/5 formless strikes) also If i have better options with other Weaponskills (asetics fury,etc.) i'll use that instead. Thanks in advance! here's my TP set, and what i'm thinking i'll use for Asuran WS
    TP:
    Hades +1 |or| Destroyer's
    B. tath
    W. Turban
    Tiercel Neck
    Merman's
    Brutal
    Shura
    Melee gloves
    Tore/rajas
    Cuch mantle
    B. Belt
    B. Haidate
    Fuma Sune-ate
    W/ Focus up >>> Basically all i swap out is my cuch mantle for Cerb. +1, but can swap out tore > Triumph
    WS:
    <head>Maat's Cap</head>
    <neck>Ancient Torque</neck>
    <lear>Triumph Earring</lear>
    <back>Cerb. Mantle +1</back>
    <waist>Virtuoso Belt</waist>
    <feet>Enkidu's Leggings</feet>
    W/ Focus up >>> pretty much no major changes, virtuoso goes out for B.B., and that's about it.
    Most DD's in Abyssea don't seem to give a shit, but it's not in my nature to half ass anything, hence me seeking guidance. I would have loved to have gotten some salvage pieces, etc. but i just never had luck, nor the desire to spam it. meh, i digress
    thanks ahead of time.
    Tantra Tathlum or Thew Bomblet for Asuran Fists, Howling Fist and Tornado Kick? I'm thinking the bomblet is better for Asuran, but I'm not sure which for the other two.
    EDIT: While I'm here I might as well ask; where does the Kemas earring come from? I looked around but neither wiki has any drop information.
    Capped acc, I'd go for bomblet > asuran, and tantra for the other 2. Uncapped, I'd go tantra for all 3.
    @shepardG:
    Focus more heavily on accuracy at first. For the original Abyssea zones you probably will be capped (eating pizza) by around 78-80 (once you cap skill, anyway), for the newer ones you may want to hold off switching til 82+ [This is based on my starting to see VT mobs at 85 in old zones once mobs were capped, but still see them as IT in newer zones]. Wouldn't start swapping acc gear out during Focus until 77, though it's hard to judge exactly.
    Assuming you're starting with Hades +1, Cuchulain's and Ancient Torque, switch them to Destroyers, Cerb+1, and Tiercel in that order. Tiercel is a somewhat debatable option if you're not highly optimizing. Even Chivalrous Chain's +str should generally be better if you're using Black Belt ("B. Belt", Brown or Black?), though Tiercel edges ahead if you're using Brown belt and capping accuracy. Also depends on if you're getting brd haste (something I wouldn't count on for most Abyssea xp parties).
    WS: Second Merman's Earring over Triumph, if you have one. Even Coral is slightly better, but not enough to really worry about. Exception: if you can calculate that the +2 str will bump up your WSC (fairly unlikely, but possible).
    Has anybody done any testing with the gleaming shield? People are saying its a 30% increased block rate over koenig and I went and tried it out on some EP mobs...idk if im doing it wrong lol but has anybody tested it on harder things? I didn't really notice much of a difference.
    Probably the same people that said sipar had a 90% blockrate BS. Gonna say its false unless they have some testings to back them up.
