I'd assume they'd be using Agasaya's instead of PCC if they had it :\

Just picked up Loki's Kaftan for RNG, no-brainer for TP. But a few days ago a friend of mine of talking with me about the validity of Razed Ruin on RNG with Arching Arrow WS. And now I'm starting to wonder how this body work for Arching Arrow in Abyssea with Razed Ruin & Stout Arm. Would it be better than Kirin's Osode?
I lose 10 STR for 1 AGI, 1DEX, 7 Ranged Attack, and a crit damage bonus, if it procs I WS, which I would assume it does, but idk for sure. Any opinions?
EDIT: Well, probably more like 2 more ranged attack, since STR adds a little bit of attack as well. So I guess it comes down to is 10 STR > 5% increase in crit damage or vice versa?, assuming the explanaion on wiki about the crit bonus is accurate.
WS DMG or STP KTN mainhand with Kamome offhand assuming all Atmas available? Nin is more of a side "for fun" job than anything so I'd rather not spend time doing Weather/Day trials or the Emp/WoE KTN when I have other shit to do. I simply don't like main-handing this Senjuinrikio.
weather/day trials would be finished faster than ws trials imo. the 5 points for having the right weather thing goes a long way.
Especially in comparison to 300 ku killing blows.
A: You gave up snapshot during tp to get stp that you can already attain easily without the loki's for a proper x-hit on rng.
B: You're a bonecrafter with synergy maxed so you could have synthed any gules to cover missing stp yourself(including hq) if you did not wish to go through the effort of attaining said easy gear that even comes free in boxes if you don't want to synth it.
C: You are asking if a 35% boost to a ws is going to beat out a 400% boost to ws damage( sidewinder's quad damage).
D: this doesnt even get into the much larger ftp mod that understandably is a stat many people overlook as you cant really alter that much when gearing.
Fire weather is nonexistant in my experience, and generally I'm either busy or plain at school/work during Firedays which only pop up every 8 hours. Is there another weather trial that's still worthwhile for NIN with a more favorable weather? DEX?
I'm not quite sure I understand your response to his question well, but I'm guessing you're saying no way Loki's is a good choice. A lot of your statements are... incredibly flawed.
First, snapshot doesn't work like haste. It's still useful, but it's not end-all-be-all. It only shortens the first part of the ranged attack sequence and doesn't affect the delay of shooting phase. There's also the inherent nature of having input the shoot command every time you want to shoot, unlike just auto-attacking as a melee. Timing your shots to max your efficiency isn't hard, but it's human to be off by fractions of a second from time to time, which is important when this is all put into practice vs. calculating things under best outcomes. Store TP -is- easy to get in other spots, however, you're correct on that. 5-hit bow is incredibly easy to get nowadays.
Second, no, he's not asking whether a 35% boost to a ws is going to beat out a 400% boost to ws damage. There's a few things wrong here. Sidewinder's description says 'Quadruple damage' but it's 5.00 ftp, not 4.00. This would actually strengthen your argument, but it still irks me because being incorrect about something so well-known to most players out there makes what you say not hold as much water. Next, the comparison you're trying to make is wrong as it fails to take into account a few things. First and most important, the option you're trying to discourage (Arching Arrow) is 3.50. You're comparing 3.50 to 5.00, not 1.0(boosted by 35% crit damage with RR and Loki's) to 4.0 like you said. Not only that, but the 35% crit damage bonus is applied after the critical hit increase. Therefore, it's closer to (3.50 x 1.25pDIF increase x 1.35) versus... 5.00. With RR and Gnarled Horn you should have over 50% Crit hit rate easy(and an additional 50 AGI), and critical WSs tend to have higher crit chance than normal. Arching Arrow's is currently unknown.
All this said, I would not be surprised at all if it ended up being better than Sidewinder spam with VV+other DD atma setups. Remember a WS like Ascetic's Fury with 1.00 fTP(albeit having better mods and the nature of hand-to-hand granting you 2 hits) became better than Asuran Fists in abyssea, which is 8.0 total. Perhaps someone more used to crunching the numbers can chime in and provide better math, mine is admittedly not complete.
What's better: mnk/war with GH or VV? Basically 20% crit rate 10% counter vs 50STR(should be capped Fstr pre atma) 2/tic regain 5% DA?
Situational, of course.
Tanking, GH hands down. But since you're /war, I'd assume you're not planning on tanking.
Now, what makes your question good, is the DD aspect of it.
I would argue that GH would be better because of the +crit dmg on razed ruins would increase the effectiveness of the +20% crit rate, assuming that's the other atma you're using.
However, I am not a monk, and one of my monk friends feels that VV is better. He argues that the extra double attack and regain could potentially give a -1 hit build when not using footwork, edit: and that the diminishing returns on crit rate sort of dampens my argument. (that's not all of his argument, I'm paraphrasing it).
So, that's all I have.
read more abyssea topics on bg and see how many thing can be mnk/war tanked
and if you dont want to tank as mnk/war why did you come mnk/war.?
Yeah my bad, I meant for pure damage. I use GH for most mnk/war tanking on big stuff anyways, just curious about the damage aspect.
other question on mnk/war tanking: Utlion vs other back
For straight-up damage in most common configurations, RR+GH is nearly identical to RR+VV. GH is easily better defensively; VV is useful for building TP while you're running around (especially if you're handling staff or club procs), and gives an extra bit of bonus damage at the start of the fight from that.
In other words, don't choose for damage (because there's not enough difference to matter), choose for the utility you need.
