What miokomiko said is true. Spiders are passive in daylight, they won't attack you unless you attack them first.

You can load a single player map onto a multiplayer server, you just have to switch the files for the world around.

If a spider is already actively aggressive towards you it will remain aggressive when day comes though

Only Zombies and Skeletons burn in the daylight... Spiders and Creepers (and Slimes) are immune. Creepers you'll have to deal with, but I think spiders become non-aggressive during the day. As in, they won't come after you but they can still hurt you if you touch 'em.

If the Zombies and Skeletons are submerged in water they won't burn.

I've a moat in my SP house that's a few blocks deep and while they can't really move about in it they won't burn either since the water constantly puts them out.

It kinda' sucks how ugly torches are considering you need them all over your place to keep shit from spawning on your roof and under your floorboards. I wish the crafted lightstone blocks looked more like a cool, simple, glowing cube than just... lightstone again. Also, "1 block > 1 dust" and "9 dust > 1 block" is bulllllll.

So after watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voHkJuKLLjc I figured I'd take it one step further and make a 40 block high rocket that would look kinda like 3 apollo 13s stuck together complete with walkway to the ship. When I finished the area where the crew would go I started filling everything inside with TNT until about 200 TNT blocks in I accidentally placed a rock block on top of a TNT. Whipped out the pick axe and without thinking I destroyed the rock block.... and accidentally set off the TNT in the process with me stuck inside. /notjustasplanned

Also, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the fact that if you are crouching (default: shift) you can't fall off a block now. Incredibly awesome when building anything in the sky.

Also also, does anyone know of a good program I can use to plan out minecraft stuff? Specifically something with 1x1 grid lines... MSpaint ain't cutting it.

Well, good news is, in an upcoming update all the existing torches will be replaced with lanterns, so hopefully they'll look cooler than torches. (and hopefully you'll be able to hang them from the ceiling).

not that cool looking, but build a stack 3 or so high of dirt then put a plank block on top. torches on the sides and top. remove one dirt at a time and replace them with fence, and it looks like a lamppost, sorta

Is there anything that can be used as a flag? I made myself a pole using the fence-stacking trick, but I can't find an object that's flat half-block in thickness to use.

I and my brother wasted 8 hours today just building a fort. Took fucking forever to get the walls up (6 blocks wide, 8 blocks off the ground, they're hollow, but it still took a good 1.5k blocks), where-as our houses were done in a jiffy. Just need a flag to complete the look.

Also hoping for customizable blocks in the future, we want cannons on the towers for defending our fort with.

In other news, Minecraft doesn't like rendering an 80x160 cavern that is 50~ blocks high that was carved out of the ground with NBTForge. Also, Melchoir doesn't like making the ship inside because he knows it's not gonna be done by 2011. Found http://sketchup.google.com/ for designing but I went back to MSPaint... sketchup seems awesome if you put some time into learning it but alas I don't want to.

Bit ticked that I've found diamond deposits on my multiplayer server before I did singleplayer, since I could use them a hell lot more on my singleplayer map.

Anyways, I've been wanting to check out the Nether, but I have yet to come across obsidian. Is there a general means of knowing where some may generally be, or is it just dumb luck like diamond deposits?


Also, what's the aggro distance for mobs? Getting tired of spiders getting bitchy at me even when they're 3 blocks and a wall away from me. I need to get off my ass and find an easy means of farming the crap to build arrows with.
