Okay anyone else notice this in single player?

I recently had my computer freeze and did a hard restart after closing minecraft and I lose my save file I been working on. It just wasn't there next time and was an empty slot.

So I restarted and rerolled the world until I got one with a lot of cliffs near my starting point.

After playing and building a base I branched out and started exploring and about 200 feet into the distance I see my old castle from my save that got deleted, it was fully intact along with its chests and everything, nothing was out of place.

Is it normal for a game to keep the data but remove the save file then use that same save file to generate a world for you just in a different position?

I'm happy all my work didn't go to waste but I wonder why the file was missing from the list when the data was still in tact.

If there was a way to reliably transplant a house/structure from one save file to another I would be all over that shit like white on rice. I've purposely been putting off starting a new stage with biomes until I get up the will to re-build my house from scratch and re-mine all sorts of shit

I actually love starting over but the biggest bitch is getting diamond.

I ran into a lucky 8 block chunk but thats all I have found thus far. Going through iron or stone picks like water is annoying, I like the diamond picks so I can just plow through for 30 minutes and not need a new one.

If I could have infinite diamond pickage or a way to repair them I would be so happy.

Its the unending quest for diamond that annoys me more then anything.

I'm toying with hosting a Minecraft server for awhile, it's a fun little game. If ya feel like dicking around, there's a fresh world available @ w3rd.no-ip.org, default port. I'm interested to hear how it performs on its current connection and on that server's hardware.

If I could have infinite diamond pickage or a way to repair them I would be so happy.

I want a recipe like Diamond Pickaxe/Axe/Hoe/Sword + 1 Diamond = repaired to full. And work for any material. And it wouldn't need 3x3 crafting.

I'd actually use my diamond pickaxe if you could repair it using just one ore vs. three.


At any rate, update tomorrow, can't wait to accidentally kill my bro/sis, and accidentally put out some of the torches in our fortyard so mobs spawn inside.

I've never tried it but if you don't mind mods there is Seronis' Tool Repair Mod which is what Kaisha is describing. If you are worried about it messing up your save/game just backup your world before you test it.

In other news, I am making a pirate ship out of wood yet a chicken keeps spawning on the bottom floor even though the only way into that spot is up a ladder and then down a second one. Maybe I should have made that floor the kitchen/messhall...

Jeez, mobs make none of their hurt/attack sounds in SMP. Just had a creeper come up behind me, and next thing I know I'm sitting in a hole in the ground.

They also don't seem to have a death animation, they just vanish. Hard to tell if you killed them or they just ducked behind something.

Minecart boosters are broken now, so my roller coaster no longer works

Ask Ragns to help you fix yourself.

Jeez, mobs make none of their hurt/attack sounds in SMP. Just had a creeper come up behind me, and next thing I know I'm sitting in a hole in the ground.

It's declared one of the bugs to be worked on.

I believe both of those and several other issues were fixed with today's patch.

I just thought, you try right angle tracks? I thought they also acted like boosters though i could be wrong....

A video i saw on mine carts had tracks in a zig zag pattern diagonally and it -seemed- to boost the cart, idk though now that i think about it....worth a try? (i'm looking on youtube now to see if maybe there's a vid on it...)

How do you make switches work on minecart tracks, just link a switch/redstone dust to a point where it hits a fork?

yea, where it forks and just connect it like you would with anything else with redstone. Be careful of your placement though if you have 2 adjacent tracks, cause you might screw-up the other one. i'd watch the 3 part series on minecarts/boosters/auto places: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPls6LXlkGI Really useful info about it....too bad my brain just doesn't seem to comprehend the 2nd and 3rd tutorials....every time i attempt to reinact them i fail =(.

Use a booster cart its the easiest way.

The 2 videos you posted are kinda impractical, it would drive me up a wall to try and hit that switch going in circles like that.
