I assume that if I have a save game from a pirated copy, I can import that into whatever new legit version of the new game there is and not have to worry about incompatiblity, aside from things that have already been spawned (like dungeons or ore veins)?
also, does anyone know what causes those 'floating tree masses' as I call them? Basically the multiple pieces of tree/leaves that are too high to get down? I'm guessing you should clear all the leaves from a tree if you cut it down but I am way too lazy for that lol
Yep, easily. You just have to go into the game files and copy and paste the "world n" file somewhere else to save it, where n is the world you want to save.I assume that if I have a save game from a pirated copy, I can import that into whatever new legit version of the new game there is and not have to worry about incompatiblity, aside from things that have already been spawned (like dungeons or ore veins)?
You either set the tree on fire and all of it didn't burn, or you cut the tree down and all of the leaves didn't despawn due to a glitch. It happens occasionally. If you leave a piece of tree log up there the leaves won't despawn. They're set to disappear whenever they're not in the vicinity of the trunk, so you have to be careful when you're only cutting down the base of the tree.also, does anyone know what causes those 'floating tree masses' as I call them? The bushes from trees should slowly disappearing once you remove the tree itself. Otherwise you can just stack a bunch of random blocks and remove it yourself if it's too high to do it from the floor.
ok sweet, I'll probably buy the real version sometime before 10/31
The sooner you buy it the better. Whenever it comes out of alpha/beta, the price is supposed to double. Though I'm not sure if he's still going with that plan after everything that's happened lately (minecraft getting major publicity)
Lol, he thinks Notch will ever actually finish the game.
A few buddies of mine have a server up that runs 24/7. PM me if you want the login info. The only real rules are don't build on top of somebody or start breaking down people's buildings etc. just be respectful.
Setting up a server at work and playing with someone at work a good idea? Lol
This just took my whole afternoon and I haven't even tried multiplayer.. god damn.
Edit: Also fuck you void/lava I just wanted red stuff.
redstone dust is kinda worthless unless you're planning on playing with electricity, especially considering how plentiful redstone ore seems to be in comparison to diamond
I didn't realize that until I fell in the void and decided to go back down. Came up with some redstone dust and then realized I really had nothing to use it with.. Found some Diamond while I was down there though. So not all bad. (Except getting back up...)
Minecraft,
What's Dwarf Fortress again?

I just made the awesomest house ever, I have a fucking lava fountain in the middle of my living room. Now I need to figure out how to grow reeds so I can make enough bookshelves to make it pretty. Does anyone know if cactus blocks need to be near water to grow, or just on sand? I have one on the 2nd floor of my house but I'm not sure if it'll grow, or if I should set up a cactus farm somewhere too.
Not really sure what I want to do with the 5-6 little buildings on my settlement I was using as a mini-town. Repurposing my infinite water room as a mini reed farm, but the other little shelters are pretty much useless for anything besides storage now that my main house is so huge.
Does the game support profiles yet so you could just hop from map to map and keep your inventory from each? I still have yet to pay for the game (only mucked about with Classic before, and the free weekend), but I'm waiting on a few features (notably, a more fleshed out survival mode with multiplayer support) to get added first, and I don't really care if the price rises by that point if Notch actually keeps actively developing the game by that point.
I'm sure there's some way to manipulate your saves for that (since you can mod in anything you want, you could conceivably mod in the exact quantities of stuff you had)
And even in Alpha mode the game is awesome. There's mining, monsters, some random dungeons with mob spawners and treasures chests, and a rudimentary crafting system. If you've only played creative you haven't seen anything yet, alpha mode is a whole different game altogether.
Just get it~
How do you get the different climates? I have yet to see environments with cacti or snow like some people have posted/mentioned.
Cacti is just random on beaches I think. Just keep remaking your world if you want snow, or use mine edit and turn it on.
