fucking hell

just died to lava, because I found a spot in my game where the game is like... broken. There's a few spots I come across where the game stutters and skips, and you have to jump and move like crazy to get unstuck. I'm not really sure what's wrong with it.

I had like 6 diamonds and a bunch of coal/iron too, all fell into the lava

What programs can you use to explore your map? I thought it was infinite or does it only let you explore what has been generated thus far due to your exploring? (i.e. what the game has auto-generated up that point)

You can only explore what's been generated. For the record though, the map isn't infinite, it's just very very very very very very large.

so I've found a way to deal with trees actually, now I bring a Flint & Steel with me every time I go to harvest lumber. Chop down the tree part -> maybe try to break some leaves to get a sapling or two -> light the rest of the leaves on fire. If you left any logs in there they'll basically burn indefinitely but you can keep it from forming those huge floating tree masses, which is nice.

Anyone built a tree farm yet? I assume it's a relatively simple matter but I kinda like having torch-lit sapling surrounding my village, makes for a nice nighttime view.

I just finished building a huge lookout tower that stops about 1 block below cloud level. I even built a pool beneath it so I could jump off Assassin's Creed style lol. Only things I have left for my town now are a big greenhouse for wheat farming, a pig farm enclosure, a wall to surround the whole town, and some nice stone walkways connecting all the buildings. Then it'll be time for a minecart transit system to a new town. I still haven't found any dungeons

Epic. I just blew a huge hole in next to my base, 47 bits of TNT I haz a quarry now.

I just remade until I got a really good map. My start point was perfect for building structures, and there were about 5 mines within a short distance of it. Managed to get a house and a huge watchtower built, now I'm attempting to get better stuff. So far I've found around ~12 iron blocks. Oh, and by chance I stumbled upon a dungeon and picked up about 50 mossy cobblestones, plus the random loot that was there :D How do I find other materials besides just coal, iron, and stone (without using an addon)?

Awesome. This game really is so much fun. I wish it was easier to find your way back to your "home" though. I have a problem getting lost in huge caverns, or if I run too far away up top.

I'm aware of the compass, but it's annoying to have to make a new one if I die, heh.

redstone in the middle, iron bar at top, bottom, left, and right of it makes a compass that points back to your spawn point

or have to download a map program like me because you cant find any fucking redstone and realize you are several continents away.

my pirated version doesnt have compasses implemented

alternately, you can build a huge tower and put torches all around it. I've even seen huge glass spheres filled with lava lol
