    Registry & Second HD

    Howdy all,

I have a second HD on my new PC which the OS is not installed to. I use this for most of my games and applications because the main OS (Windows 7 64bit) HD is a SSD 80gb and i dont want to fill it up.

Anyways iv installed FFXI onto the second HD and what im looking to achieve is to change the registry settings so the game looks better.

Firstly POL looks like complete shit, all grainy and really bad looking. Anyone else experience this?

From a quick google it appears there wont be any registry because there is no OS installed to it. Has anyone else done this? Is there anything i can do as it looks completely shit even with changes made in the config. I really need to make those registry changes. The Windower gui launcher wont work it informs me that i dont have permission to write to the registery etc.

Just to note there is no current POL / SE / FFXI folder hkey_local_machine directory and not sure where else it would be. Any suggestions.

afaik there is nothing you can do for PoL other that make it smaller.
For 64-bit OS the reg path is:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PlayOnline EU\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXI
You want to change 0003 and 0004 values

Under PoL there is WindowH/W/X/Y but they refer to the actual size of the window and its location.

Ok thanks alot, didnt realise they where in there so found it great.

Ok so they are all fine. I actually set the ingame resolution to the same as the actual resoltuion because the options dont let you go above 1024x1024 is this ok do you think? It was set to 1680 x 1050

Also about POL do you have any ideas why it looks like shit?

Im also opening FFXI with windower and it loads up fine with no problems when i launch the game it doesnt allow me to alt tab or window, when i do it causes FFXI to shut down back to POL as if i didnt have windower installed

Same res should be fine (I run at 2048x2048 on and 1920x1080 monitor).

As for that PoL I have no idea other than possibly some sort of file corruption. I very much doubt it's GPU artifacting. It's been ages so I'm not sure how easy it is to just reinstall PoL on it's own without effecting FFXI, however you could always try a file check (option is on the login screen for PoL, make sure PoL is checked)

Perfect, ok have all that setup. Settings are per my old PC but i still think FFXI looked better on that... Anyways

Ill try that POL file check later on just POL doesnt bother me mcuh for now was curious.

Windower i had to run as admin and its working ok now thanks.

May aswell ask here, FFXI Style and new icons etc... Seems FFXI Style isnt updated anymore or working so does anyone else have any other suggestions? Stretched linkpearls / bazaars = puke. Also other icons and menus where much nicer

Found something on the Windower forums that seems to be updated regularly now so going with that.

I did the POL file check and everything was fine. Im not really bothered but just curious. If anyone knows how to fix it i will.

    Thanks
