I'm going to make a bumper sticker that says "Everything I need to learn about Christianity I learned during the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the Conquering of America, Henry the VIII, the Roman Empire, the murder of doctors, the KKK, the 1930s-1960s... ah hell. I learned it pretty much throughout history."

Should just condense it down to "Everything I need to learn about Christianity I learned from pedophile priests and Fred Phelps" With a mural of Fred Phelps church protesting a soldier's funeral. Most merkins would have no idea what any of those historical events you mentioned are, this would have more impact I think.

The first means you learned something from something else.

The second means you learned it at some point or in the course of. The initial poster wrote, "I learned during the crusades...", implying he was actually there. Priran called him on this because he should have said, "I learned from the crusades."
