So, I have changed my mind about the most important part of this update again.
MOST IMPORTANT PART:
Colibri are back in style.

The planned Version Updates chart that was released sometime in March certainly gave that appeal that they wanted it at Lv99 by December, though looking through all other update notes and Q&A's, I can't find any statements by SE specifically saying it'd be Lv99 by that time. Then again, who truly knows what SE's thought process is? Certainly raises doubt that the December update will take us to 99, but maybe they'll do the "14 levels for XIV" joke after all. >.>
Im happy (relative to what we had before) with ZNM, VNM and most of ToTM. Few can ever answer what they wanted though - Abyssea is as easy as this MMO is going to get short of free handouts.
How so? SE can adjust the level of Colibri @ current GC camp but how does that compare to Abyssea where you can cap 10merits in less than 3 hours (under ideal conditions), get boss pop items (again under ideal conditions) and also play for powerful augments/more playtime via TEs?Originally Posted by Byrthnoth
Unless Scars has a Colibri camp, I still see standard 6man EXP as being a thing of the past outside MMM, where you'd be going for burst EXP/I don't want to pt long.
I don't really care if people actually use the colibri camp. I just find it amusing that they will probably be buffed. I would xp on them just for fun.
Realistically though, I have every intention of taking my five jobs 80-85 in 4-5 nights in abyssea. 600xp/kill is too good. I am at risk of running out of things to merit though. On the upside, I don't need to rush and churn out axes for my War anymore.... But I still need to do damned staves.
This is a winner!
- Puppetmaster: Crit. Def. Bonus
/sigh
really was hoping for something more exciting...another trait that sounds good but will never proc....
PUP's get new spells.
Interested in whether were going to see a bunch of what was considered top level gear get tossed up on the AH for cheap in anticipation that the market for them will die out.
I'm not trying to QQ for rdm; I just figure Hey; Refresh 2 be great for the whole party. Especially if I can accession it. I just see my favorite job as a second rank nuker and healer now. I still won't quit being a redmage; but I guess I see how Sams feel when everyone has mediate and sekkanoki.
Welp at least i still have my drk and rng... /sam
On another note; I don't get why some people complaining how it's hard to level a job now? Have you not done abyssea parties? I got my drk from 75-80 in 1 day.. ONE!!! It took my redmage a whole 5 days non stop because all the counter camping and 8k an hour parties. Abyssea takes 18 people with a area full a monsters with almost instant respawn. The mandy camp in Tahrongi-abyssea, against the mountain held 3 alliances. That's 54 people, and that's just the ONE camp. A little slow; but it worked. Birds in La Theine was the same result; 3 alliances.
4 hours of abyssea net me 10 merits, capped and a full buff; (150k). So I do understand why 80-85 is a let down considering we'll finish that In a day or 2.
Malacite, my honest question to you is why are you still playing? That's a huge amount of bitching for a game you will still pay 50~70$ for unto the end of December.
And why in the fuck do you want weird things such as Magic Attack Bonus on DRK? That takes away dmg from simply swinging your weapon around.
Calm down guy, at least the comment on Occult Ocumen for NIN made sense.
This is what I'm saying. NO one is holding a fucking gun to your head and forcing you to fucking play. If it makes you that upset, stop playing.
I stopped playing about 3 months ago, but these updates are starting to make me want to play even more. If anything, they're nice adjustments that should have been done a long time ago.
Level cap could have stayed at 75 for all I care. I was one of those people who swore the level cap would never raise, but I was wrong. Oh well. Keep bitching to bitch, I'm sure people on BG give a shit about your 2 cents.
On-Topic: Is anyone else seeing the endless possibilities for THF now that it has native dual wield? Maybe its just cause THF and NIN are my 2 favorite jobs, but hmmm. I know THF/WAR was a pretty nice combo for DD depending on your daggers on birds back when I played, however with that said, native dual wield opens a lot of doors for THF. Maybe I'm being too positive, but this really, really makes me want to come back to XI.
This is hilarious to watch on both sides. Announcing an eventual 99 cap with 3 announced increases made it perfectly reasonable to conclude a 80/90/99 increase. It was equally reasonable to believe that there would consistently be a 5 level increase with more updates beyond the schedule. It was pretty much a 50/50 shot, and SE went with the 5s. Personally, I'm relieved. I still have a lot of sub work to do for 49, and 5s means I have twice as long to do it. Ops and Memoir quests should get me there no problem.
I guess SE just doesn't want every melee to have Aggressor yet.
The problem with dying MMOs is that people inevitably quit, making the game harder to play if you always need a unique job or ability to complete a specific task. The easiest way to "adjust" this to make the game playable to is blur the lines between individual jobs and make them into more of a category. WAR, SAM, DRG, DRK all begin turning into Generic Heavy DD; WHM, RDM, SCH all turn into Generic Support Mage, et cetera. This is why things like Sekkanoki (and spells like Refresh for that matter) are given at earlier levels so that a majority of jobs have access to the ability as the level cap increases - it's not to make your job better or worse so much as it is to keep you playing.
Shit's inevitable. And it works.
For all the people crying about the level cap not going up to 90 this update, shut the fuck up and man up - just quit now. You're just mad you won't have five to eight level 90 jobs by the third day Scars is out. You're not mad because your grinding is gonna be stretched out, this game is about the epeen, has always been about the epeen, and getting to level 85 just plain isn't impressive.
Think of this from a business standpoint: You're a successful MMO company coming out with a new MMO. You want to continue generating revenue from your older game. Do you come out and blow your wad on upgrades to your older MMO to keep people playing, or do you release all this great stuff in smaller updates at a time to keep people playing?
SE is a business, guys.
The DW on THF is nice...
but as my DNC friend found out, when you need /NIN it's not just for DW, but for SHADOWS.
And DNC/WAR is very viable because you have Fan Dance and Waltz, THF has the defenses of a soggy paper bag, evasion isn't enough. THF/WAR works, but if your group tends to give THF bottom priority for healing, you're not in for a fun time.
If they don't get at least DW3, won't NIN be the dd sub of choice again at 90?
Also, how will THF/WAR stay alive and split sa and ta? Won't they potentially pull hate and die unless they stack?
You need to take into consideration of mob level as well. By the time RDMs get access to Blizzard IV and Thunder IV there isn't a big deal of difference between RDM/SCH and SCH in term of nuking, and both jobs will be able to cap m.acc on stuff like Tiamat and Ouryu. Same can be said about RDM vs WHM as a main healer, anyparty fighting DC -> T "HNM" can be safely handled by a RDM.
Try 12. Also doing that practically stop you from farming abyssea NMs.On another note; I don't get why some people complaining how it's hard to level a job now?
Im just hopeing they drop some more shit randomly like they always do -.- no refresh 2 yet, seriously its due ._. 80-85 is nice cause its not as much as going 80-90 but jesus, December is going to suck.
