Is anything higher than Grade 1 gather points implemented?
The enmity system in beta does somewhat exist but it's horrible. I was in a 3 person guild leve party, I showed up with the mob missing about 50% of it's health and threw 1 cure out(single target) and the mob stuck on me the entire time and beat me to death while it was being pelted by WS's for 200'ish from the archer.
I dont think anyone said it didnt exist. It's just incredibly broken and its been like that since the beginning of Beta. I remember seeing Gladiators actually holding hate off mages spamming cures in Alpha. Never again since then... lol
I feel like they scrapped a lot of stuff from Alpha that actually worked better than what we have now. ;/
Gridania guildleves are so crazy. You run past aggroing wolves and orobons to get to the leve-targets, and then midway into the leve, you have 4 levemobs pop on top of you when you're surrounded by aggroing mobs (so you can't even run away to try to restart the battle).
I spent 28 out of the 30 minutes to do the monkey and flea one. People somehow managed to gather 5 wolves in one of the narrow tunnels and they stayed there for the longest time.
However, the best part was when I managed to sneak back to the river where the last monkey and flea had popped and killed me: it turns out the three beeswarms that had ignored me up to that point aggro too.
Surprisingly enough, and nightmare story aside, my only complaint about guildleves (besides not agreeing with the 48hour cooldown but I won't argue about this) is when you get stupid mobs that literally die in two hits and make the guildleve a waste of Guardian's favor. I guess dying to the reinforcements is also annoying, but I imagine it's only a big deal in Gridania.
Maybe if alpha and closed beta keys weren't distributed to a shitload of people who saw it as a demo and kept posting about how the game sucks instead of testing and posting feedback we'd not be in this situation. But the blame is on SE too. How hard can it be to encourage party play? All you've got to do is give more EXP for partying than solo.
Most of the current issues won't be resolved by launch, I would suggest anyone who is going to end up hating the game as a result stay away for a few months until this shit is sorted. Sure you'll be behind, but you'll have more fun.
Needs to bring back some form of <stnpc> targeting or leve mob targeting. The fights are a cluster fucker of a mess with mobs running everywhere and people chasing and change from passive to active modes, blah blah blah. Fundamentally flawed mob placements. And what the fuck is up with all mobs having ranged attacks, that is just so fucking stupid beyond belief. (ok, not all, but like 99% lol). The camera is actually pretty shitty and it automatically refocus back to your char, so whenever you wanna check stuff out from an angle, it's a pain in the ass. The maps, while seemingly easy and logical to navigate is only marginally than the cryptic shit that was in 11. Marking mobs through the enemy flags is not well implemented at all, because it requires manually targeting the mob and flagging it, and you can't even backtrack in the menu to target a 2nd mob, you'd have to engage another mob and then flag it, so you have to do it one by one. So idiotic.
The current teleporting system, while nice and quick might be too easy and discourage exploration. Offering others in your PT to teleport with you to same crystal without having to made contact with it first is actually not a good idea, imo.
Having to use the menu to interact with 99% of the stuff in the world is kinda dumb, I'm wondering how they will implement this system when you have tons of chests or doors around you and you can't differentiate which one is which. Maybe they'll just let you target those objects directly.
Dipshit Aetherytes should ask you to set home point there whenever you touch it instead of doing it by default, shit is so annoying whenever you go to it to flag it for teleport and then try to run to another camp only to die half way. Or when you're in another map and forgot to set your HP at a certain camp after teleporting and then dying to shits along the way and warping back to another aetheryte site half away around the world.
There was a serious bug i found during play too; it had to do with the action bar macro, my marauder's axe skill "Light Swing" would not unequip no matter how many times i tried to do it. I accidentally moved i to another number on the bar and was a pain in the nuts to scroll to it to attack. Finally after 2 days finally found a way to switch it, despite the game not allowing me to unequip.
Not letting us move the action bar around is dumb considering everything else on screen can be dragged elsewhere.
Where is my auction house, or for that matter, where's my mog house?
Chat box needs tabs for /tells and /party, can't even reply to people with ctrl+r is dumb.
All bad things aside, the game does have a pretty good foundation. The world is enormous so far, and impressive. There are some very good core concepts:
- Character progress and customization, although they need to provide more info on stats and what it does.
- Mixing up skills and abilities for jobs is pretty neat, your character can truly be unique. (but expect this to vanish after a year when people figure out cookie cutter builds)
- The potential for having massive battles is very likely and having epic massive fights with alot of stuff on screen will be fun, end game battles will most likely be far more dynamic than what we saw in 11.
- Zones like Coerthas appears to hold so much possibilities, I can picture nomad camps there, or tribes running around hunting local mobs etc, just random stuff, it's so large and open and if SE is smart they would really utilize it.
- I might be the only few who feels this way, but the graphics engine is very optimized from my perspective. People with shitty computers will lag and experience crappy framerate, but consider how much is going on at those Camps, and my gtx 460 is pulling 30-40 fps at 1080p is not an easy feat from a programmer's stand point.
- once SE listens to the customer base and actually implement useful changes the game will be good, if they stay arrogant and adamant, i can see the game being stagnant. They really should listen to the people.
You can reply with Ctrl+R, you just have to have the chatbox active.
An option to say "hey system I'm using a controller" if I touch the keyboard open the fucking chat box automatically pls. This would be much less annoying when trying to chat.
Omfg thank you. This happens in FFXI, dunno why they haven't done it in FFXIV. I always default to just pressing CTRL+R to respond then realize theres that extra step for no reason.
